Hello everyone!

I've got a shorter than usual newsletter for you this month, as I was on sick leave for 6 week recovering from a minor op and I'm still trying to catch up on everything. I'll restart the podcast once I'm caught up, and you'll be getting the third edition of our magazine soon too! But in the meantime, here are the most important things that have been happening in the world of research impact this month:

Today mark's the launch of the long-anticipated final guidance for the UK's Research Excellence Framework (REF2021). Rather than wading through more than 300 pages of material, I've pulled out all the key things to tell you everything you need to know about the final REF2021 guidance on impact in less than a minute. I've also collected all my materials on REF and evidencing impact at the end of this blog, which you may find useful!
If you wondered why we need a Knowledge Exchange Framework (or KEF) when we already assess impact in REF, then you're not alone. I've written a blog to shortcut you to everything you need to know about research impact in the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) consultation
Thanks to everyone who sent me unsung impacts from your research, and those of you who made suggestions about how best to celebrate these impacts! We've decided to turn this into a competition, and we'll be announcing the winner (who will receive £1000 prize money) with the launch of the next edition of our magazine
There's now a summary video and an extended audio version of my guide on how to write a winning impact summary and pathway to impact. I'd love it if more of you could send me examples of good pathways for the accompanying best practice library of pathways to impact
Researchers from countries that capture most EU research funding report more impact from their work. A new paper has compared research impact practices in the social sciences and humanities in countries that capture most and least EU Horizon 2020 research funding. The study analysed 60 case studies from 16 countries, and showed that researchers from the highest performing countries had higher capacity for generating impact and reported more impact than those from the lowest performing countries
A new study has shown national researchers more likely to share findings with local stakeholders, while foreign researchers more likely to share via international journals in English
