Ausland Group’s Commitment to Blue Zones

Hello Ausland Team!
As many of you have heard, as a commitment to being a world-class employer and creating a work environment in which our employees can thrive in all facets of life, Ausland Group has partnered with Blue Zones. What does that mean exactly and what are we doing as an organization to meet this agenda? First, lets dig into what exactly Blue Zones is.
Blue Zones is an organization that encourages businesses and communities to adopt better lifestyles through healthy choices. Along with National Geographic, Blue Zones studied communities around the world with the highest life expectancy. With a team of researchers, they found evidence-based common denominators in these communities which included living and working in environments that encourage movement without thinking about it, eating a mostly plant-based diet and putting families and loved ones first. The research suggests that by adopting a Blue Zones lifestyle, life expectancy could increase by 10-12 years.
Over the last few years at Ausland, we have made some exciting changes to foster a work environment that supports and encourages these healthy behaviors among our team.
  • Relationship building and team comradery is fostered through collaborative work spaces and company events and activities.
  • Gym memberships are available for all employees.
  • Ergonomics has been a top priority with new sit/stand desks and chairs that support a healthy posture.
  • Professional development opportunities to ensure our team is feeling fulfilled and purposeful are on the way!
  • Healthy snacks are made available to keep our team fueled and focused.
  • Natural movement throughout the day is encouraged by simple things like locating trash and recycling away from desks.
Here at Ausland Group, we love Blue Zones because we care about our employees and the unique individuals that make up our team. In order to complete our Blue Zones certification, we need your help!
We need our team to take the Blue Zones pledge and commit to making at least five actions within the next six months that will bring you one step closer to a long, happy and healthy life.
Please find a list of actions on page two of the attached document and when you are ready, click here to take the pledge and return it to Jeanette in Grants Pass or Kara in Eugene by the end of September.

Here are some of the actions I plan to take: (1) keep a pair of walking shoes at my desk, (2) attend a purpose workshop, (3) attend a plant-based cooking class, (4) grow a garden and (5) schedule a weekly happy hour with friends.
