President's Message

The summer is winding down but the projects at Ausland are still heating up! We have projects improving schools over the summer so kids in Brookings and Cottage Grove will return to school next month to safer and better learning environments.
With these other projects like PACE, the Chrisman projects, FCCU and all the other incredible work our staff is performing I am so encouraged by our team's ability to "see it, own it and solve it." Through these attributes our team is able to deliver world-class development and great outcomes to our clients.
In the coming days, we will be formalizing our process for performance evaluation, pay increases and bonuses to provide our team members with a fair and predictable process. It is part of our commitment to have a highly-competitive compensation program to attract, retain and reward high-performing employees at all levels.
Thank you for all your dedication and effort. Our staff truly is world class!

With our employees working in many different locations, we're starting a feature to highlight some of your coworkers so you can get to know them a little better. We start with some of the employees who have worked at Ausland the longest.

It is Not Too Late for Some Summer Fun

By Nancy
It is August. What have you done for fun this summer?!  Soon school will be back in session, the weather will start cooling down and yes, the holidays will be here before we know it.
Here are some awesome things you could do before the end of summer:
  • Go for a picnic – It might seem old fashioned, but a picnic can still be a lot of fun.
  • Unplug and connect with the real world - Set the phone down, step away from the computer, and experience life without the Internet.
  • Find the nearest body of water - Water offers endless entertainment
  • Take a walk - We all have legs, let’s use them!
  • Try something new - Summer is a perfect the time for exploration.
  • Tend to a garden - There is almost a primal satisfaction in making things grow out of the ground.
  • Exercise - Summertime is a great time to get into shape.
  • Go on a vacation - This one is self-explanatory but nevertheless it’s important.
  • Have a BBQ - Fire up the grill or smoker because it’s summer!
  • Do some housework - Clean out those gutters or spruce up the yard.
  • Go hiking and camping - Enjoy the great outdoors.
  • Have a fruity drink -Smoothies are Piña coladas were invented for this time of year.
  • Volunteer - Help those in need or get involved in your community.
  • Have a garage sale – Clean out the old junk you don’t need anymore.
  • Visit the zoo - You can visit the animals and learn a little bit about wildlife.
  • Take in a movie – Get out of the hot weather and grab a bag of popcorn.
  • Take a nap – Relax in a yard chair or hammock
  • Watch a sunset - Epic locations are just a short distance away
  • Go to an outdoor concert - Summer is a great time to go see an outdoor show. Britt has an amazing outdoor venue.
  • Pick some wildflowers or fruit - Find flowers in a field or pick some wild berries
  • Get outside and enjoy some sports - Summer sports are the most fun to play.
Go enjoy time with family and friends, that’s what counts the most!

Safely Administer First Aid

When attempting to aid as an accident victim, an untrained person may do more harm than good. Even some of the first aid training we have had in the past may no longer be the best approach. All of us, trained or not, should remember these "don'ts".
  • Do not try to remove a particle from a person's eye.
  • Do not use a tourniquet except as a last resort. Crushing wounds, or lacerations in which large arteries are severed, or cases of partial or complete severance of a body part are the only instances in which a tourniquet is justified.
  • Do not apply greasy ointments or powders to any burn.
  • Do not move an injured person or try to get them to stand. Moving a person with a spinal injury can cause damage to nerves and result in paralysis.
A worker suffered a crushed vertebrae and because fellow workers helped the worker stand and try to walk, intestinal damage was done that resulted in death.
Unless you know what to do, don't treat things yourself. Call 9-1-1 and get trained help.

Introducing HH2

New time tracking software is going to be implemented for the Construction Team in the coming weeks which will make recording your hours easier and allow for more precise tracking of time across projects. The software, HH2, is cloud based and integrates well with other software we currently use like Sage and Procore.
Here are some features of HH2:
  • Easy time reporting – does not use cell data, only syncs via wi-fi
  • Easy timesheet reviewing – all in one place
  • Real-time tracking of time online for PMs
  • Online approval, providing flexibility
Note: The Design Team will use Ajera software to report time once it is implemented

How it works:

1. Gather up all your friends/contacts.

2. Refer/recruit them to join Ausland by:
Emailing their resume to
or have them apply
Email your friends’ phone numbers to Nancy and she will reach out to them.

3. Keep track of your referrals and receive:
  • $500* for each hire
  • $100 Dinner Gift Card for every referral interviewed.
  • $10 Dutch Bros. Gift Card for every resume received
