About Us:
Founded in 2016, AMuslimFund is the first grassroots, national Islamic community foundation in the United States.

Vision:
Leading sacred, sustainable, and strategic Muslim philanthropy for today and future generations.

Mission:
AMuslimFund cultivates a thriving philanthropic ecosystem to advance charitable causes by evolving donor giving and diversifying funding pathways for community organizations.

What has AMuslimFund been up to?

Another busy month, praise be to God. As promised, we have shipped out our LaunchGood swag; if you participated in our crowdfunding campaign, you should receive your reward by the end of the month.

In the end of October, our Board of Directors met in San Jose, California and held their first in-person-retreat reviewing our strategic plan and implementing a 3-year roadmap of how to get there!

Part of this exercise was seeing where we landed on our year 1 goals. We are excited to have created marketing videos showcasing what a community foundation is, information on donor advised funds, and what AMuslimFund does. Check out our YouTube playlist to learn more.

The other checkmark was to see how much support we provided through our Donor Advised Funds. Since July, we have supported 42 organizations across the United States with over $123,000.

Reach out to our co-Founder, Muhi Khwaja to learn about opportunities to have your nonprofit partner with us, or if you want to support our operations or endowment work!

Organization Highlight

Each month we like to select one organization which is doing great work and that has received support from AMuslimFund. AMuslimFund values community harmony and nurturing relationships with our neighbors of varying faiths.

Islamic Networks Group (ING) is a non-profit organization which pursues peace and counters all forms of bigotry through education and interfaith engagement. Founded in 1993, ING reaches millions of individuals and hundreds of groups a year at the grassroots level by building relationships, understanding, and peaceful communities of all types and backgrounds through programs.

ING hosts thousands of presentations, training seminars, workshops, and panel discussions annually in schools, law enforcement agencies, corporations, healthcare facilities, and community organizations as part of cultural diversity curricula and programs. They also host effective social media campaigns that promote cultural awareness and best practices for bringing diverse Americans together to get to know and learn from one another.

Lastly, they provide online curriculum on topics related to cultural awareness and building bridges available to educators and community organizations.

Donor Spotlight - Rachel Baker

Rachel & her family

I was moved to make a start-up donation to help establish the American Musilm Fund because I share the founding values and vision of helping to heal our communities by working together to make a positive difference.

My maternal grandparents were Jewish and my paternal grandparents were Southern Baptist. My mixed family religious background taught me to appreciate shared values and humanity, even when they take different forms. As I grew older, my community has continued to expand. I lived in Spain, married a Polish immigrant and formed life-long friendships with my graduate school roommates from Bangladesh and India.

Over the past fifteen years, I have become inceasingly pained by the rise in suspician and fear of Islam in America. I hope that by joining the first Islamic community foundation, the American Muslim Fund, I can play a small part in creating a larger community in which our religions are a source of strength, not something that divides us.

I am also a donor to S.I.R.E.N., an organization based in San Jose, California that provides legal services and advocacy to support low-income immigrants and refugees.

Thank you for welcoming me to be part of the generous and caring community of donors to the American Muslim Fund.

With gratitude,

The American Muslim Fund Team
