For 2022 we have planned a series of artist's talks, which can be viewed from our website, or from our Vimeo profile.  We have set up a broadcast page on the website as an easy way to find our programs. We begin this series on January 29 at 11am (Pacific time) with Karen Abel and Patricia L. Giraud discussing their work. You can ask questions throughout by using the chat feature. These questions will be put to the artists at the end in a Q&A session. Our next broadcast will be on February 27 at 11am featuring a presentation by Mark Andres.

The last two years have kept us on our toes in inventing ways to engage with our collectors during the pandemic. One of the things we have missed most is seeing and listening to artists talk about their work. Early on we tried a few Facebook live sessions and a zoom or two, but decided to focus on short films. Over the time the choice of platforms for live events have expanded, and across the board, tools have improved.

We have chosen Vimeo, as we already use it to host our videos, and it's easy to embed into our website. We anticipate that many of the tools and options we have developed over the pandemic will be too good to let go once we are able to open up to in-person events again. We envision that over time we will transition to either hybrid in-person and online events or do both. We would love to know your thoughts on that, and are always looking for feedback on what we do.

Mark Andres • Indoors
February 12 - April 3

Mark Andres is best known in Astoria for his landscapes and images of the river, but during the last two years much of his time has been spent "Indoors". The resulting body of work features figures in interiors with the world kept at bay by closed drapes, the security of a quilt and seductive lighting. These are intimate genre paintings with the hint of film noir sensibility.  They are ultimately about safety, home and retreat.  Mark's show opens for the Second Saturday Art Walk, February 12.
