Hi all!

On June 22, 2019, Sharpstown Democrats voted to change the name to Southwest Democrats. This was done to reflect the nature of our membership and to create a more inclusive name for some areas that felt left out. Our hope is to grow Democratic activism in our corner of Harris County to the benefit of all people. We need to find and develop new leaders and Southwest Houston is an area that just needs a little love. It is an exciting time for us and all Democrats. The fight in 2020 will need all of us to the keep Harris County blue and try to turn the state blue for the first time since 1976.

We look forward to our continued collaboration with our sister organizations such as Bellaire/Braeswood Democrats, Diverse Alief Democrats, Meyerland Area Democrats Club, and others like Swing TX Left. Harris County is huge and Southwest Harris County is packed with Democrats that need to get activated and out to vote.

2020, here we come!

This year we were a little overwhelmed with several big events happening close together, so we decided not to have our own entry in the City of Bellare 4th of July Parade. Instead, we are encouraging everyone to join our friends at the Bellaire/Braeswood Democrats club so there is a veritable army of true blue Democrats!

The official announcement from the Bellaire/Braeswood Democrats:
"The Bellaire/Braeswood Democrats will again participate in the July 4th Parade & Festival in Bellaire.   Be sure to join us for this very fun and important event.
Members, Elected Officials, Candidates and other Democratic Clubs are all invited and encouraged to join us as we walk in the parade and hand out red, white & blue beads to the large crowds.  This year we will also have Mister McKinney’s History Bus in our group.   So, if you don’t feel like walking the parade route, you may ride in the open-air bus that will be decorated with banners and signs for our group.
We will arrive at the Bellaire Triangle Shopping Center (Bellaire Blvd at Mapleridge St) between 8:30 and 8:45 am to decorate the bus and get instructions about the parade.   Look for the yellow open-air school bus, which will be our parade vehicle.  The parade begins promptly at 9:30 am, and only takes about 30 minutes to complete.  The Festival begins in Bellaire Town Square immediately following the parade, where we will have a fun booth.
We plan on having our new Bellaire/Braeswood Democrats T-Shirts ready for sale at the parade.   The cost is $15 each.   So, if you would like, you can wear the T-shirt in the parade and at the festival."
