Subscribe to Safety Alerts: Oregon State Offers Text Alerts to Emergency Contacts

As an emergency contact of an Oregon State University student, we know that timely information on campus emergencies and warning notifications is important to you. In our ongoing efforts to provide effective communications, we now offer the opportunity to receive safety text alerts from OSU to your mobile phone.

Signing up is easy. Text OSUalert (all one word, not case sensitive) to 67283. You will receive a welcome message and be signed up for these alerts moving forward. You also will learn how to opt out of future messages should you choose to do so at any time.

Please note that by registering via text you will receive updates on all Oregon State campuses and locations. Each alert will clearly state the location of the incident. Students may register you or other emergency contacts for alerts tailored to their campus location by visiting, clicking on OSU Alerts and then logging into the OSU Alert Portal to enter your contact information.

For questions regarding the RAVE alert system, you may contact Chief of Public Safety Suzy Tannenbaum at

A Message from University Housing and Dining:
Drew Morgan, Interim Director of Residential Education

We are just a week away from the start of Fall Term and OSU Move-in Day! Our entire team at University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) is preparing for you and your student’s arrival to Corvallis. This is an exciting time for all of us here at OSU and for your family as well. As you prepare for your arrival, I wanted to share a few thoughts with you so that you feel as ready as possible for Move-In Day.
Students can look up their building, room number, campus mailing address, and their assigned move-in date and time along with other details on their MyUHDS portal available at Please have your student review all the information on the portal to ensure good planning. For most students, this year’s move-in will happen on Sunday, Sept. 22nd. It is very important that you verify your scheduled move-in time as this will help reduce congestion as well as provide a more personalized experience for you and your student. If your student hasn’t received an assignment yet, don’t be alarmed - we guarantee that we will have a space for every first-year student that is a part of the First Year Experience Live-on Requirement! If you have questions about your assignment, please call the Housing Office (541-737-4771).
Have a student living off campus? Encourage them to attend the Off-Campus Living and Transfer Student Meetup at 7:30 p.m. at CH2M Hill Alumni Center.
Vaccinate before it's too late!
Brittney Holcomb, Immunization Program Manager, Student Health Services
Immunizations offer safe and effective protection from vaccine-preventable diseases and safeguard the health of our students and the community. Our goal is to help students stay well so they can stay in class and be successful! OSU’s policy of required immunizations helps us with that goal.

Required immunizations include:
  • Meningococcal (MCV4): 1 dose for all students under age 22, received on or after turning age 16
  • Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertussis (Tdap): 1 dose within the last 10 years
  • Hepatitis B: 3 doses
  • Varicella (Chickenpox): 2 doses or the date of the disease
  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR): 2 doses
Though not required, we also highly recommend the Meningococcal B vaccination and an annual flu shot.
Students are encouraged to satisfy their immunization requirements and complete the required health history form as soon as possible. Vaccinations are available at Student Health Services, the OSU pharmacy in Plageman Building, and through many community healthcare providers. Official documentation may be submitted in person, through US mail, or online via our secure patient portal at
