NEWS FROM THE MMC - APRIL 2019

Chris Osgood receiving MN Music Campion belt from former St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman

Summit Thank You!

What a blast! The MN Music Summit earlier this month was a wonderful gathering of musicians, professionals, and supporters from across Minnesota, Manitoba and beyond. We're still reveling in all of the good energy and wisdom shared earlier in the month on stage and in classrooms. We'll be uploading videos and photos from the events throughout the next few months but before we get too far away from all of the fun, we wanted to THANK YOU! You all made this a wonderful annual celebration.

Ellen Stanley, Executive Director
4th Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Potluck on May 16

You're invited to join us for the 4th Annual Rock 'n' Roll Potluck on Thursday, May 16. As in years past, we will once again welcome some of Minnesota's finest musicians as they serve up their own favorite dishes for an exclusive dinner party you won't want to miss!

Taking place at the Hook and Ladder Theater & Lounge in Minneapolis, this fundraising event will feature food and musical performances by Minnesota's top musical talent. Mingle with your favorite artists, meet local DJs and sample homemade eats -- all while supporting the Minnesota Music Coalition's musician mentoring program, which matches emerging musicians with artists or industry professionals to help them get to the next stage of their career. Hope to see you and your hot dish there!

Members, stay tuned for a promo code to get your discounted tickets. We'll email you with details soon.

Member Spotlight: Tim Cheesebrow
Tim has been on board with the MMC for years and released a new album, The Well Traveled Unknown, at Art Works Eagan this past weekend. The songs in this collection focus on his personal struggles and aspirations as a young parent and artist trying to remain positive in the face of depression and the influence of an increasingly strange and divided world.

Tim started writing songs at 15 as a way to make sense of the world. Tim studied the craft in earnest while getting his degree in classical music composition, and cemented his style while volunteering at a monastery and school near New Orleans. 20 years later and he’s still at it, playing over 120 shows per year. Tim is also the author of Songwriting for Wellness: Using Music to Heal the Mind.

Congrats to Tim on the new body of work. Proud to have you as a member!
