Thank you for supporting the development of Faith in Action Bay Area leaders! Last month, 22 Faith in Action Bay Area leaders from San Francisco and San Mateo Counties attended a 5-day leadership training with PICO California to learn the fundamentals of organizing. Your contributions allowed us to invest close to $20,000 in this training, from paying for the leaders' registration and transportation to covering the lost wages of several who missed work to attend. Our leaders developed strategies to strengthen communities not just in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, but across the state. Thanks for your support!

August 2022: Over 100 Faith in Action Bay Area leaders gather to practice their Story of Self, Story of Us and Story of Now
What an exciting start to our voter engagement season! In early August, over 100 Faith in Action Bay Area leaders gathered in the parish hall of St. Anthony of Padua to craft and share their Story of Self, Story of Us, and Story of Now. In this Voter Engagement Kickoff, participants reflected on how key moments of their biographies lead them to work with Faith in Action Bay Area in order to change unjust systems. They practiced sharing these stories with others in a public and meaningful way.

This training grew naturally from a week-long workshop that Faith in Action Bay Area organizers and core leaders attended in June with Marshall Ganz, Harvard Professor and veteran community organizer. Over the next few months, Faith in Action Bay Area leaders are using their Story of Us in talking to 40,000 low-income San Francisco voters in key districts this fall about their experiences living in the city and what it will take to make sure that all families are able to stay in their homes and their community.

We welcome you attend our monthly citywide meetings and/or a bilingual volunteer canvassing one Saturday! Please email for more information.

Campaign for Decent and Healthy Housing
Longtime Faith in Action Bay Area leader Trini: "This isn't personal, this is collective. This is a collective struggle."
Faith in Action Bay Area leaders in Redwood City are moving from strength to strength as they make sure families can stay in their homes in a safe and dignified way! In June, 300 people showed up to our action celebrating the City Council adopting two components of our Platform in its Anti-Displacement Strategy! The platform would prevent landlords from harassing their tenants, limit evictions due to renovation, and create a rental relations office to support the rights of tenants and landlords. Check out the media coverage of our action in the Redwood City PulseSan Mateo Daily Journal, and Univision.

Our Redwood City team lead a dynamic voter and unprecedented voter engagement campaign this summer, talking to over 10,000 homeowner and renter voters about their experiences with housing and what they would like to see for their city. Our leaders are currently gearing up for a City Council Candidate Forum to learn what is motivating candidates to run for office, their thoughts on how to keep our community safely housed in Redwood City, and other key issues affecting our community. Please stay tuned for more information on this important forum, which will take place on September 15.
