Kindergarten Readiness 

Higher Expectations supported a report that was recently completed by the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute (WPRI) on the effectiveness of Wisconsin's YoungStar Rating System and on the availability of high-quality child care in the state. Higher Expectations conducted two case studies of high-quality Racine area child care providers to better understand the financial implications of maintaining 4- and 5-star YoungStar ratings. Elementary Reading 
 

At the end of June, Higher Expectations joined United Way of Racine County (UWRC) and Racine Unified School District (RUSD) to present on the impact of the Schools of Hope Tutoring program. This school year, Higher Expectations worked closely with UWRC to implement quick cycle continuous improvement processes to regularly track program performance and make course corrections throughout the year.  Read the rest on our website.

High School Transformation

This Spring, Higher Expectations partnered with Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce (RAMAC) and the RUSD Academies of Racine to bring RUSD Academy students and staff together with local employers, employees, and organizations for an information session and tour at Washington Park High School. Learn more online.
 



In the Community

This Spring, County Executive Jonathan Delagrave shared the State of the County at his annual address. He expressed his pride in the success of recent Racine County initiatives and also recognized Higher Expectations for its role in helping build a fully capable and employed workforce. Partner Highlight

The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread recently completed a three-part series on building resilient communities. Through interactive briefings that were streamed live on Facebook, speakers discussed what it takes to build a shared future here in Racine. You can watch the recordings and engage in the conversation on their Facebook page.
