Happy Daffodil Days to You from the Point!

The Society Jazz Orchestra's
8 - Piece Big Band is Back on a Regular Basis
Playing the Music of  Ed Moss
My father and founder of The Point, Ed Moss, left an enormous repertoire of lovely, and technically complicated, music behind when he exited this realm over a year ago. Last month, his band got together to play his music for the first time, since his passing. The show was a hit!  Many people came out and were treated to this great group of musicians having a blast playing Ed's music again.  Together, we decided to make this a monthly show, generally on the last Tuesday of the month.  Because it is an 8-piece big band with so many musicians, the cover for this event is $10, munchies included. Please come join us for this lovely memorial band playing the wonderful tunes of the late Ed Moss on Tuesday, April 24th. Doors open at 8pm, music  8:30pm to 11:30pm.
Thanks and hope to see you there!

April Music Highlights

Besides the SJO at the end of the month on a Tuesday, each weekend in April is really happening this month.  We are starting to get some out-of-towners visiting our modest little club, along with some new (to us) local groups.  We are very excited.

Tonight, Friday, April 6th, Singer Emily Jordan is back to ply our ears with her lovely, sultry contralto.  Holding it all down in real time are Jordan Pollard on Piano and Judy Tsai on Bass.

On Saturday, April 14th, The Mambo Combo is back at The Point!  This 6-piece Latin band is so much fun.  You'll have a blast listening to these stellar musicians with rhythms and chops to spare.

On Thursday, April 19th, we've got guitarist, Abe Ovadia, coming in from New York to play an intimate show at The Point.
" As Musicvox Guitars describes, Abe Ovadia is a "jazz phenom, one of the most innovative guitarists of our time." Having emerged as one of the preeminent guitarists on the New York City jazz scene, Times Square New York City says, "You can always count on him to happily claim the responsibility of playing some world-class jazz." He holds a bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music, and a master's from New York University's highly acclaimed jazz performance program. He is also a recipient of the Best Guitarist of 2016 Award from Hot House Jazz Magazine. "
He will be joined by two of our favorites here at the Point, Justin Dawson on Bass & Ben Bratton on Drums.  Tickets/ Covers for this performance are  $15.  Please follow the link below to purchase tickets.

The Next day, Friday, April 20th, We have more visitors from New York!  We are very excited to welcome The Eric Siereveld's Organic Quartet.  Eric is in from NYC for a visit with his quartet, featuring our own Brandon Scott Coleman on guitar, Steve Snyder on Hammond B3 Organ, Chris Parker on drums and, of course, Eric Siereveld on trumpet/flugelhorn.
" For more than a decade, now NYC trumpeter Eric Siereveld has built a reputation as a multifaceted performer, composer and educator.Deeply influenced by the hard bop/post bop tradition, his compositions and improvisations are historically rooted yet forward thinking. From 2014-17 Eric held the  position of Instructor of Jazz Trumpet and Director of the Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble at the University of Wisconsin’s Mead-Witter School of Music".
The cover for this Friday evening performance is $8 to accommodate and appreciate this lovely, visiting Quartet.

And on Thursday, April 26th we welcome Mike Scharfe's Nuvou Quartet to The Point for the very first time.

April is packed with all kinds of great and interesting music!  See our full calendar below  for all of our outstanding performances.
