Registration Open for Maydm Summer Youth Programs

"In Maydm's summer programs, you will not only learn the skills to become the next great STEM innovator, but you will get to experience the world of technology in a big way. Maydm has multiple payment and financial assistance options for programs. 

This year's summer programs will all be held virtually.  They will meet twice per day for 2, 3, 4, or 7 weeks depending on the program. If you do not have access to a computer at home, Maydm has laptops available to loan."

Allyship that makes an impact: How to support women in IT

Being a better ally for underrepresented colleagues is unfamiliar territory for many of us, but it’s an essential component of making meaningful change for women in the workplace.

In this one-hour virtual event, author and former tech executive Karen Catlin will begin by delivering a keynote drawing from her book, "Better Allies: Everyday Actions to Create Inclusive, Engaging Workplaces."

Protest Access is a volunteer collective focused on Black Lives Matter and anti-racism related content on social media. They provide captioning, transcription, and visual descriptions as requested by online communities: d/Deaf, Hard of Hearing (HoH), Blind and Visually Impaired, and/or English language learners.

Justice and accessibility are inextricably linked. Protest Access is committed to making the largest social and cultural movement of our lifetime accessible. The volunteers are working to make it easier for everyone to engage in these discussions."

✦ Volunteers needed for virtual "Coffee and Chat" event

The YWEB Career Academy Program is a three-month bootcamp that teaches technical skills such as design, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Volunteers are needed for the program's virtual "Coffee and Chat" event, which is intended to help students meet members of the tech community and practice their networking.

Data Science Career Panel Discussion

For the second year in a row, UW-Madison is putting on a Data Science Bazaar. It is virtual this year and events are spread out from Feb 3 - Feb 25. This specific virtual event is for a Data Science Career Panel. The panelists will cover things like what their roles entail, where they see the field going, and advice for folks wanting to get into data science.

StartingBlock's Social Impact Cohort, a hub for Social Entrepreneurs!

StartingBlock’s Social Impact Cohort is back and better than ever. This year due to the impact of Covid-19 the Slingshot cohort will be virtual.

In partnership with Associated Bank, we’re looking for the best and brightest social impact entrepreneurs to join us as part of our third cohort. These changemakers will sit at the nexus of enterprise and solving significant social and environmental challenges, focusing on how a business-driven approach can make a difference. Cohort companies and organizations will demonstrate how social entrepreneurship can serve as a model for creating sustainable impact in Wisconsin and beyond.

Participants will receive access to mentorship and tailored virtual programming, as well as membership to StartingBlock for ten months, from March to December 2021!

What does it cost?  The Social Impact Cohort is a FREE program.

Through a structured mentoring program, you will gain entrepreneurial skills and mentorship to help your business launch, grow, or pivot. MERLIN's mentor roster of 100+ business leaders includes successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, investors, and non-profit executives.
