 Winter Edition
Looking for ways to connect your students with nature this winter? Here are some fun educational activities that will help your students enjoy the outdoors (even while indoors)!
Get outside and enjoy the snowy weather by going for a snowshoe hike! We have 21 pairs of snowshoes that we can offer for a snowshoeing program with your students. Come to the Nature Center for a field trip or have us come to your school. We recommend this activity for kids 10 & up. Minimum of 4 inches of snow required.
Animal Tracks
Fresh snow is the perfect canvas for animal tracks! Go on a hunt for tracks and practice using a field guide to identify which animal the tracks belong to. Bring the fun inside and have students design their own animal track!

DIY Birdfeeders

Place some bird feeders outside your classroom window, and your students can watch the birds from the comforts of the classroom. Here is an easy and inexpensive bird feeder recipe that you can make with your students:

Great Backyard Bird Count

A fun way to get your students involved in citizen science is to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count which is a worldwide 4-day event from Feb. 18-21. Participating is easy, even for beginners!

Merlin Bird ID App

Are you new to birdwatching? This phone app will help you identify birds by their call or appearance. Using this app while birdwatching will help students with their observation and identification skills!
