A MESSAGE FROM OUR COUNCIL CHAIR

Greetings fellow Lions,
I hope you have all had some time to relax in between the wonderful work you
are all doing, I have seen all your efforts on Facebook:
Lions busy with Christmas parades,
foodbank collections, Santa caves, big digs, fishing competitions, fundraising for the Australian fires and supporting Camp Quality.
Plus many other wonderful examples of our service to the Community.
GREAT WORK LIONS – you should be proud.
MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

Multiple District have received a grant from LCI for a membership initiative.
Membership development workshops are coming soon to all Districts and
we want all clubs represented as well as District Cabinet members.
Details of date, time and venue should be distributed by the District Cabinet Secretary or District GLT leader in the near future.

Come and learn new strategies for retaining our members and enhancing their experience, developing club branches and new clubs.
Learn about new service opportunities in your region and work collaboratively with your teams to develop action plans.

We have a challenge to induct 800 new members before June 30th 2020.
We can do this! Breaking it down that is 200 members per quarter spread over 7 Districts. As at 31 December, across the 7 Districts, 245 new members have
been inducted. The goal is achievable. LET’S DO IT!

Regards

BUSH FIRES AUSTRALIA
The horrific stories and pictures coming out of Australia are devastating; personal loss of property, damage to animals, their habitats and loss of life from the unrelenting bush fires are now all too familiar.

Many clubs have been involved in fundraising and are donating to the Australian Bush-fires. - GREAT WORK!

We are also seeing large sums of money being deposited every week when we reconcile the International LCIF account. From the 19th November - 27th January we have collectively deposited over $45K specifically for the Australian bush fires.

Clubs can still donate money as a club or personally to Lions Clubs International Foundation for this cause.

Deposit to:
Account Name: Westpac, International Association of Lions,
Account No: 030-502-0081103-00 Code: Club Number,
Reference: LCIF, Particulars: Aust Fires

OR

Donate directly to the Australian Lions Foundation.
Account Name: National Appeal Fund,
BSB: 036-048, Account No: 440704.

Members of the public can donate to the Australian Lions Foundation appeal

LCIF SPECIFIED DONATION

LCIF advise Lions are trying to raise funds to purchase water tanks for affected
areas as the existing ones melted with the heat. The cost of 1 water tank is $3000AUD, with the tanks being donated to families and the elderly.

If a club can raise the funds, then the club name will go on the tank,
likewise if it is a zone or district project.

If your donation is for the purchase of a water tank, please pay funds to the LCIF account with the Particulars “AusBusWat” so we can identify it for you.

HEARING

For many of us that grew up with no hearing protection in the work environment we now suffer hearing loss, and are reliant on hearing aids and experience various difficulties due to this loss.

Given that knowledge you might be surprised to learn of the hearing issues facing our youth. Recent testing shows 1 in 3 youths will experience hearing loss. To read more about this please CLICK HERE

Consider how difficult the loss of hearing will be and the impact on these youth people in the future.

MARCH is hearing month. Start thinking how your clubs could assist with hearing testing programmes for youth, raising awareness and or funding of devices.
