Dear <<First Name>>,

At a recent retreat with a group of CEOs, one of the guys shared a way for him to find more joy. This week we look at this simple, but effective, tool to beat the depression devil.

You can either watch the short video or read the article below.
Beat Depression with the Joy
brought by a Hobby

COVID’s relentless marathon is bad enough. On top of it, here in North America, days are now getting shorter and the dark periods longer and longer. It is not the easiest time to stay joyful!

I’ve just returned from a retreat with a group of CEOs. One of the things we discussed was how
all of this darkness can lead to depression. There is this constant onslaught on all of us, and it sometimes can start feeling overwhelming and hopeless.

We shared different strategies on how to overcome this all.

Proper nutrition, good sleep, exercise, meditation and other strategies were identified. Different ones seem to work for different people.

One guy shared an experience that got a unanimous nod from all:

Having a hobby is a sure way to find more joy.

It not only takes your mind away from the woes of work and responsibility, but also keeps it occupied in a positive way. He mentioned that he started rebuilding old motorcycles. He loves it! It brings him joy. He already has nine that he is working on right now. He even had to get a proper big space for him to work in.

I love growing plants, any kind. As we live in an apartment right now, my plants all have to be of the potted kind. When I am working with my plants—when I see the new growth, the little baby plants starting to take—my mind is miles away from any day-to-day woes. It is a welcome oasis of peace and tranquility in an oft tumultuous day. I just love the joy my plants bring me.

How about you? Do you have a favourite hobby?

If not now, did you have one earlier in your life? If not, perhaps you can try one. It may be writing, it may be baking, it can be anything!

Spending some time regularly with your hobby will help you beat the depression devil and unlock a path to joy!

And when you are on that path, you will be so much more able to help others find their joy path.

I hope you found this helpful. More of the same can be found on nicohuman.com or by following me on LinkedIn, FaceBook or YouTube.

Thank you. Until next week!

I’m grateful to have you in my life. Let’s use our hobbies to make this world a little bit more joyful every day!
