The summary of our entertaining dinner and AGM

Our dinner and AGM were such a success! Thank you all who participated :) 65 seats to our dinner were sold out and I'm sure all of the guests got so much more than they expected.
Food by Vladislav Djatšuk was delicious, songs by Siv Jakobsen made you travel the universe with her deep and beautiful voice, Aksel Kolstad and his cultural stand-up was so much fun! AND our ambassador Dagfinn Sørli made jokes so great that will be spread for the whole year :)

Our new Chairman Helena Almqvist made a lovely speech which encouraged all of us to help this organization to grow to be The Best Nordic Chamber Abroad and we can do it only while being Stronger Together :)

Thank you, Christian Testman, for doing such a great job as a moderator. You are the best!

Special thanks will go to Enterprise Estonia, Norwegian Embassy and Nordic Houses!

Tech jobs are growing three times faster than our colleges are producing computer science graduates. By 2020, there will be one million unfilled software engineering jobs in the USA. Through compelling interviews, artistic animation and clever flashpoints in popular culture, CODE documentary examines the reasons why more girls and people of color are not seeking opportunities in computer science and explores how cultural mindsets, stereotypes, educational hurdles and sexism all play roles in this national crisis. Expert voices from the worlds of tech, psychology, science, and education are intercut with inspiring stories of women who are engaged in the fight to challenge complacency in the tech industry and have their voices heard. CODE aims to inspire change in mindsets, in the educational system, in startup culture and in the way women see themselves in the field of coding.

Outdoor Session: Let's do it World in cooperation with Nordic Houses!

The day will take place in the end of April or in May 2017 - stay tuned!

First event in our NEW Outdoor Sessions event series!

The main purpose of the day
is the contribution to the civil society in Estonia by promoting active attitude, strengthening local communities and supporting the development of local leaders (something in common with Norwegians, right?).

This year we are going to plant trees in cooperation with Nordic Houses. More information regarding the event will be published in next newsletter.

EVENT HISTORY:

The day of collective action that has been taking place in different forms all over Estonia since the year 2008. In 2008 people got together to clean Estonia from illegal garbage, in 2009 people gathered together to generate good ideas and from 2010-2016 there have been several different actions (Estonian: talgud) all over Estonia. Every community, organization or active citizen decided by themselves what needed to be done and asked other people to join according to that.
