COVID-19
A lot has happened since we sent out our last newsletter. On our website we looked back on 2019, but in this newsletter we'd like to look at what is ahead of us. We have prepared our entrepreneurs for 2020 by organizing a Business Training, with a focus on financial skills. We're confident in our plans, and as always we're enthusiastically expanding the usage of low-cost WaSH. Sticking close to our main objective, the coming period is full of trainings. We'll make sure to keep you posted!
Business Training - Having our entrepreneurs managing their own businesses promotes our aim for sustainability. With rising questions regarding quotations, profit management and bookkeeping, we all agreed it was time for Mrs. Lexah to visit our training centre. She is no stranger to our entrepreneurs, as she provided a Business Training in 2018 as well. Impressed with her teaching style and knowledge, we invited her once again. Read more about it by clicking here
YEP Update - In case you missed it: we interviewed James  a little while back about his training in the Netherlands. In the meantime he has been applying his newly acquired skills at the Centre. He followed a training as part of the Young Expert Programme in November last year, and of course we wanted to know all the details. If you haven't read it yet, head on over to our website to find out how James experienced this adventure.
Self-supply Course - In collaboration with the SMART Centre Group, we're organizing a short course on low-cost Water and Sanitation Technologies with a focus on Self-supply. The training will be given by specialists including Mr. Mzumala, who has drilled over 300 wells and Henk Holtslag, senior advisor of the SMART Centre Group. The training will take place at the Centre in Mzuzu on 8 June until the 12th. If you're interested, you can find all relevant information in this PDF-file
Hans - As some may already know, sadly Hans has left Mzuzu. With over five years spent at the Centre, we're forever grateful for all that he has done. Not only his technical trainings, but his spiritual and social support were a great addition to our Centre. He will sorely be missed, however we are confident we will meet again. Until that time we'll keep repeating his wise words: "Measure twice, cut once", or the famous 3P's: "Prepare, prepare, prepare". Hans wrote about his departure on his personal blog, which you can read here.
COVID-19 - Even though Malawi is reportedly not yet affected by the coronavirus, a lot of misinformation is shared. As WASH Advisors, we informed our staff and neighbors, with whom we share a plot, about how to avoid spreading of the virus as much as possible. They are encouraged to share this with their families, community-members and so on. We'll keep a close eye on the situation and act according official advice. At this moment, the Centre is still open.
