WEIGENT-HOGAN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

WHNA
October 2021 WHNA General Meeting
Meet with Mayor Mitch Reynolds

Join your neighbors for "Coffee with Mitch" at the Weigent Hogan Neighborhood Association General Meeting Monday, October 11th at 6:30 over ZOOM.

Join us with Mayor (and neighbor) Mitch Reynolds for an open discussion about how WHNA can help make our city a better place to live (see Leaf-It campaign below).  You will also have a chance to ask him about ways that the City can help us improve Weigent-Hogan.  Come with your questions and suggestions!  This should be a great session.

Make sure you click through the link to the WHNA Website and hit the ZOOM button for admission."  Further instructions are later in the newsletter.

Join the “Leaf It” campaign

The City’s Parks Department has developed an initiative to encourage the mulching of leaves and other sustainable practices rather than raking them onto the boulevard.  Parks is encouraging you to go over the leaves with a mower and mulch them. This returns nutrients to the soil and boosts next spring’s growth. In addition, the City will have a smaller demand for leaf collection, which will further the City’s efforts to cut back on carbon emissions.  If you are interested in being a part of the initiative, participate in this short survey on the Parks Department’s web page at https://www.cityoflacrosse.org/your-government/departments/parks-recreation-forestry/sustainability and show your support by signing up for a recyclable "Leaf It" yard sign for your front yard.

Help the City advocate for sustainable mulching practices!

Don't miss this jammed packed meeting.  This is your opportunity to learn and to be engaged with your neighbors.

Go to  whnalax.org for the Zoom meeting invite and meeting button.

This was our second year and judging from the comments of our neighbors, the garden was a success.

Tell Us Your Thoughts!
Every year the City of La Crosse designates CIP (Community Improvement Program) funds for various improvements throughout the city. These funds are designated for projects that improve the City's infrastructure, safety, beautification, etc. CIP funds are being used to replace the Weigent Park shelter and have been designated in the past to help neighborhood associations realize infrastructure improvements within their boundaries (think the new play structure in Weigent Park, boulevard trees and the rapid flashing beacon on Cass and 21st St).
The WHNA Board is interested in learning what other improvements you would like to see within the WHNA boundaries. Don't hold back, let us know your top five concerns or desires for Weigent-Hogan by completing the survey on our web site. Go to https://whnalax.org/landing/surveys/survey-cipfunding/ to complete the survey.
Thanks!
The WHNA Board
