WHNA
February 2022 WHNA General Meeting
14 February 2022 6:30 PM

See instructions on how to attend the ZOOM meeting below!

As a follow-up to our very informative and inspiring January WHNA meeting with Brandon Olson of Olson Solar Energy, our February meeting will focus on the Climate Action Plan for the City of La Crosse.  Will La Crosse meet the goal of 50% of the residences having renewable energy by 2050?  That question and others will be discussed at our February meeting.  The speakers will be Councilwoman Mackenzie Mindel who chairs the Climate Action Steering Committee and Bob Fisher, a member of the committee.  Prior to the meeting you can read about the committee and its work at https://www.cityoflacrosse.org/your-government/boards-committees/sustainable-la-crosse-commission.  You are also encouraged to take the City’s climate action survey and provide input at https://lacrosseclimateactionplan.squarespace.com/survey

REMEMBER!  The meeting will be on Monday, February 14th, 6:30 PM via ZOOM.

The program will be followed by a short business meeting to discuss the results of the January Board Election and the topics for the General Meetings for 2022.  We will also have an update on the Weigent Park Shelter!  The bids to construct the new shelter this summer have gone out and Jim Flottmeyer from Parks will provide us with the details of the plans and schedule.

Please don't miss this opportunity to learn and to be engaged with your neighbors!

Go to  whnalax.org for the Zoom meeting invite and meeting button.

The 2021 Hogan Victory Garden is asleep for the year!   We are still deciding if we will do a garden in 2022.  We need more folks to commit to be part of the garden team.  The team will help plant & weed (currently have 3 folks who have committed & 1 who’s available part of the summer and we have a team of 4 folks who have agreed to water.

We need 2-3 additional folks to commit to be part of the team so all the work doesn’t fall on a few.  What does commitment mean????  Being part of the team means that you’d be given responsibility for weekly weeding several weeks during the summer and be able to help on the 2 planting days in May.

Please let Linda or Sue know if you can join the WHNA garden team.  We need to decide by the end of February so we can order seeds and get plants started.  To join us email Sue at suebee4147@gmail.com or Linda at llee9279@gmail.com
We need your input!

Tell Us Your Thoughts!
Every year the City of La Crosse designates CIP (Community Improvement Program) funds for various improvements throughout the city. These funds are designated for projects that improve the City's infrastructure, safety, beautification, etc. CIP funds are being used to replace the Weigent Park shelter and have been designated in the past to help neighborhood associations realize infrastructure improvements within their boundaries (think the new play structure in Weigent Park, boulevard trees and the rapid flashing beacon on Cass and 21st St).
The WHNA Board is interested in learning what other improvements you would like to see within the WHNA boundaries. Don't hold back, let us know your top five concerns or desires for Weigent-Hogan by completing the survey on our web site. Go to https://whnalax.org/landing/surveys/survey-cipfunding/ to complete the survey.
Thanks!
The WHNA Board
