This week's positive resources, articles, fiction, & insights to help you become the best version of yourself!
Mandy and Jonathan Chew here!
We just got back from Tony Robbin's UPW(Unleash the Power Within)! It was AMAZING! If any of you have the chance to go to one of his immersive events, it will definitely change your life. We had heard him on his tapes and talks before, but this was next level. We would highly recommend it!
As always, thanks for reading! We are always so excited to share with you all the positive resources that we find! We know it can be a lot to digest sometimes, so we recommend starting with skimming the newsletter first and reading/watching more of what resonates with you in particular :)
P.S. - For those of you just joining, welcome to this week’s edition of our bi-weekly newsletter, The Positopian, where every two weeks, we share positive fiction, resources, & insights to help you become the best version of yourself!
Quotes We're Pondering This Week—
(We like to find a lot of these, so we recommend for you to pick your favorite single quote here that you read and try and focus on it throughout the week.)
“Life is happening for us not to us.” ~Tony Robbins
"Happiness is not contained in what you get; happiness is gained by what you become." ~Jim Rohn
“It’s a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.” ~W. Somerset Maugham”
“The Earth without art is just eh.” ~unknown
“Failure is success if we learn from it.” ~Malcolm Forbes
"Confidence comes not from always being right, but from not fearing to be wrong." ~Peter T. McIntyre
"While there's life, there is hope.'" ~Stephen Hawking
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
"To anyone that ever told you you're no good.... They're no better." ~Hayley Williams
“Children’s minds are like banks-whatever you put in, you get back 10 years later with interest.” ~Dr Cline
“The wound is where the light enters you.” ~Rumi

This Week’s Positive Videos—
The Best Kindergarten You’ve Ever Seen | Takaharu Tezuka:
This video takes a closer look at one of the coolest grade schools in the world. Architect Takaharu Tezuka walks through his design process in creating this unique kindergarten, which centers around kids being able to be kids, empowered by their surroundings...
Meditation on Twin Hearts:
We did this Meditation at our Tony Robbins Unleash The Power Within Seminar. It was extremely powerful!
This book is great to read after attending Tony's UPW event this week! It's a great refresher of powerful reminders we learned like:
“Knowledge is only potential power until it comes into the hands of someone who knows how to get himself to take effective action. In fact, the literal definition of the word “power” is “the ability to act.”
"The birth of excellence begins with our awareness that our beliefs are a choice. We usually don’t think of it that way, but belief can be a conscious choice. You can choose beliefs that limit you, or you can choose beliefs that support you. The trick is to choose the beliefs that are conducive to success and the results you want and to discard the ones that hold you back.”
Ken Blanchard was recommended at Tony Robbins' UPW and so we decided to pick this book up too. It had been on my reading list for quite a while because it's one of the few books that has sold over 100+ million copies. So I wanted to check it out. It's right up Mandy and I's alley because it combines self-help with a story which is what we're trying to do with Science Fiction. There are 3 secrets to being a One Minute Manager:
1) Create one-minute goals - if you're the manager, these are goals you work out together with whoever you're managing and you focus on the most important ones. 20% of your goals will do 80% of the work. You can capture each goal, what you need to do, and your due date in a few paragraphs on one page which can be reviewed in less than a minute.
2) Constantly give one-minute praises - this essentially means that you "Catch people doing something right" and help people reach their full potential. You reward people for doing the right thing by giving them specific feedback on what they did right and how you feel about it!
3) Provide one-minute redirects - you can reprimand someone when they do something wrong in a constructive way by reprimanding the behavior and still supporting the person. Little course corrections along the way are much more effective than waiting until a performance review to dish them out. Build up the person while fixing the behavior!
That’s it for now!
