This Week’s Positive Resources and Insights—

A modern new school in India is turning traditional education on its head...
"Not only does the design reduce its yearly energy consumption by approximately 85% compared to a modern hotel, but it also produces its own energy."
An interesting website dedicated to the philosophy of positive discipline, which helps provide teaching and parenting techniques that can develop mutually respecting relationships between adults and children.  Criteria for Positive Discipline include being kind and firm at the same time, teaching respect and concern for others, and inviting children to discover how they can use personal power in constructive ways.
"Mantras are an excellent tool for happiness because they align your thoughts to recondition the fear-based mind."
“Gratitude is a choice, not a result”
“Our attitude, focus, and level of gratitude is in direct harmonization with our level of happiness.”

Examples of creating rituals that will change life.
The hack helps bring us back to the present by relying on our five senses - sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste.
Fixes for those sneaky ways we self-sabotage our happiness...

What We're Listening To —

We've found a TON of great podcasts to listen to lately!
Exploring her dad's mission and personal philosophy, Shannon Lee converses about life and how we can be truest to our selves. Not only are the stories and quotes about Bruce Lee touching and inspirational but the core values explored are always insightful and applicable to daily living. This is a podcast that explores different Self-Help books every week and the hosts have to apply the lessons directly into their lives and document their struggles/findings.  Not only is it inspirational and educational, it is also warm, poignant and reaaaallllyyyy funny!

Cool Inventions We Stumbled Upon

Portable Wind Turbine charger that allows you to charge your devices in nature
A new product is now developed that allows you to safely track where your child is at all times.  The Jiobit App delivers location alerts at any distance. With live map views to allow you to always find your child.  It's good for both peace of mind and in case of an emergency.

Sci-Fi / Future—

  • What Life Will Look Like in Twenty Years
Michio Kaku made some interesting predictions about the future including cool things like smart paper that is both digital and physical and the eradication of aging.
This timeline is both inspiring and cool to think about:
A new study gives evidence that these could be the first planets found outside our Galaxy...
  From Hyrule to Tamriel...
  • SpaceX just launched the Falcon Heavy rocket.  CEO, Elon Musk, talks about the launch and what it means for the future of space travel itself...

What We're Reading This Week—

The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis
I had seen these movies and always known of the story but for some reason reading the books was still a strangely intimate experience.  The books are shorter than I expected and extremely to the point (The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is only a little over 200 pages) yet they have an intriguing quality to them that keeps you turning the page, even in spite knowing the story.

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

I've been trying to catch up on a series called "The Stormlight Archive" by Brandon Sanderson. He just released the newest installment called Oathbringer which got called the most "Unputdownable" book by Amazon in 2017. So I decided to start with the beginning of the series. My friend also recommended it to me as well! So I dove head-first! Little did I know that each book is pretty much 1000 pages long, so it's amazing how intricate the world that Brandon Sanderson creates! It's definitely a fantasy heavy novel, but overall it's filled with fun positive concepts. If you want to get lost in a world, then pick up this book!

That’s it for now!
