Who You Really Are Is At Stake

Sermon Notes

When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. you I am well pleased.” And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 3:21-22

Through and by the anointing of the Holy Spirit – Jesus received ______________ from the Father.

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. . . Luke 4:1

We cannot battle the enemy well if we don’t know ____ we are.

Luke 4:14-19

(Luke 4:18 AMP) To set free those who are oppressed… (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy)

thraúō – to break in pieces (shatter) to crush, break, shatter

Jesus Mission statement: His Magnificent Promise.

– By which he NEVER fails to deliver on - Is for the CRUSHED and BROKEN

Feeling crushed and broken? Good! You qualify for Jesus’ healing and restoration!

“Jesus did not come into the world to make bad men good. He came into the world to make dead men live!”

Leonard Ravenhill

Sometimes you have to confront the lie before you can accept the truth.

With every _____ comes a _____.

With every ____ comes an ___________.

With every _________ comes a ______.

With every _______ comes a _____________.

When Jesus sets us ________ – We will be free indeed!

2 Corinthians 5:17

Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation. All that is related to the old order has vanished.[a] Behold, everything is fresh and new.[b]
2 Cor 5:17 TPT

2 Corinthians 5:17(a)  This would include our old identity, our life of sin, the power of Satan, the religious works of trying to please God, our old relationship with the world, and our old mind-sets. We are not reformed or simply refurbished, we are made completely new by our union with Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:17(b) Or “Behold, a new order has come!”

In the original Greek language of the New Testament, the word used for transformation is metamorphosis. The biological definition for metamorphosis, again according to Merriam-Webster, is… “a profound change in form from one stage to the next in the life history of an organism, as from the caterpillar to the pupa and from the pupa to the adult butterfly.”

“A profound change in form from one stage to the next in the life history of an organism, as from the caterpillar to the pupa and from the pupa to the adult butterfly.”

Colossians 1:27
2 Corinthians 5:17

The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. 2 Cor 5:17 The Message

I kept running around … always looking for someone or something to convince me of my belovedness. Self rejection is the the greatest enemy of the spiritual life because it contradicts the sacred voice that calls us the Beloved.
Being the Beloved expresses the core truth of our existence.

Every time you feel hurt, offended, or rejected, you have to dare to say to yourself: These feelings, strong as they may be, are not telling me the truth about myself.

The truth, even though I cannot feel it right now, is that I am the chosen child of God, precious in God's eyes, called the Beloved from all eternity, and held safe in an everlasting belief.

Just as a newborn baby is expected to grow and mature as it get older, so the Bible likens new Christians to new born babes in Christ. They are encouraged to drink the pure milk of the word that they by grow thereby. Here are some indicators that we are growing and maturing in Christ.
