Countdown to Election Day 2020

104 DAYS

Meet Chad Wolf

Yes, we know that name sounds like the bully in a John Hughes teen comedy, but, in fact, Chad Wolf is our “acting” Secretary of Homeland Security (i.e. unconfirmed by the Senate). He is also the man behind the paramilitary force of secret federal police sent to Portland, Oregon in response to some graffiti found on a federal courthouse. Wolf was also Chief of Staff for former DHS Secretary (and disgraced ice queen) Kirstjen Nielsen, with whom he cooked up the notorious family separation policy. Wolf’s troops do not wear badges and do not identify which agency they work for as they snatch “suspected” vandals off the street, driving them off blindfolded in unmarked vehicles. Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley tweeted, “Authoritarian governments, not democratic republics, send unmarked authorities after protesters. These Trump/Barr tactics designed to eliminate any accountability are absolutely unacceptable in America, and must end.” Welcome to Trump’s Amerika—but never forget that this is John Lewis’ America too. In the words of that great man, “You must be bold, brave, and courageous and find a way…to get in the way.” We have 104 days until the election. Let’s find ways to get in the way together and hold on to John Lewis’ America.
Portland's "Wall of Moms" are acting as human shields to protect peaceful protesters from unlawful arrest.
COLUMBIA COUNTY POLICE REFORM PANEL

Columbia County has a unique opportunity to perform a comprehensive review of our County Sheriff’s Department under Governor Cuomo’s Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Executive Order (E.O. No. 203). The Columbia County Board of Supervisors (BOS) has established the Police Reform Panel; and the BOS Chairman is requesting community members who are interested in serving on the Panel to apply for appointment. This is one of the most important endeavors any of us can do for our county. We need a diverse group of people representing all communities and interests to make the necessary reforms. We encourage everyone interested in serving to apply for appointment to the Panel. For application information, see the press release from the Chairman of the BOS below (or view the original document here); the deadline to apply is August 7. In solidarity,
Keith Kanaga
Chair, Columbia County Democratic Committee

Save The Postal Service

Postmaster general Louis DeJoy just unveiled drastic new directives that could bring the USPS to a grinding halt, destroying customers’ confidence in the agency -- and putting our right to vote by mail in jeopardy.

About this event

Join us to celebrate 100 days from Election Day with a Weekend of Action! All across NY-19, we'll be mobilizing volunteers to call voters and get the word out about this crucial election!

If possible, please join the Zoom meeting using your computer and have your phone to make calls. You do not need to download Zoom or make a Zoom account to participate, although you can.

All volunteers will have the necessary resource guide and conversation script available as they make calls, and we can answer more questions about that during our Zoom meeting. For those who are new to phone banking or to phone banking virtually, we will make sure to walk you through the process step by step!
