It’s INSANE!!!!

Remember Crazy Eddie? The consumer electronics chain mostly famous for that slogan, screamed in late-night commercials? Well, that’s an apt slogan for today’s bunker-style White House, with dozens testing positive for COVID and the Superspreader-in-Chief dropping the F-bomb on Rush Limbaugh, demanding the arrest of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden and…oh, why go on? We have better things to do, like getting out the vote (early if you can; see below) and restoring sanity and decency, that other endangered species, to our beleaguered nation.
Women's March - Oct 17
Socially Distance Demonstration

Please RSVP here for the Women's March - Socially Distanced Demonstration, Saturday, October 17, 2020 @ 1pm, corner of Central Avenue & Wolf Road

We protested Day 1 of Trump's presidency --so let's let him see us one more time AT THE END OF HIS PRESIDENCY!!

Bring your signs (and masks) and stand in solidarity with RGB.
We demonstrate for:
1) waiting to choose a Supreme Court Justice until after the inauguration
2) upholding the ACA
3) protecting women's reproductive rights
4) ending systemic racism
5) LGBTQ equality
6) reinstating voting protections
7) repealing Citizens United
8) humane immigration policy
9) addressing the climate crisis
10) insuring the peaceful transfer of power which will end Trump's reign of corruption and incompetence.
We are almost to the finish line!!!!!! Let's line Central Avenue & Wolf Road for miles!!!!!!!

Capacity is limited.

Harold Varmus, M.D., a part-time resident of Old Chatham, is the former director of the National Institutes of Health, was the Lewis Thomas University Professor of Medicine at the Meyer Cancer Center of Weill Cornell Medicine, served as President of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for ten years, and is the co-recipient of the 1989 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for studies of the genetic basis of cancer.

The author of about 400 scientific papers and five books, including a 2009 memoir entitled The Art and Politics of Science, Dr. Varmus was a co-chair of President Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of the Public Library of Science, and chair of the Scientific Board of the Gates Foundation Grand Challenges in Global Health.

We are honored to have him with us for a one-hour Zoom visit that will focus on prospects for the control of the pandemic through testing and related public health measures, vaccination, or treatment; the little-known actions taken during the pandemic by the reactivated Obama Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST); the damage that has been done to federal health agencies by Trumpian behavior; and the prospects for a national commission on Covid-19. A question-and-answer period will be offered as well.

You may be interested in reading an opinion piece co-authored by Dr. Varmus that the New York Times published at the end of August.
