"If it could only be like this always – always summer, always alone, the fruit always ripe…" —Evelyn Waugh

Dear Friends & Past Guests,

Summer is in full swing here in Maine. Berries are ripening on the bushes, corn is in full tassel, and tomatoes are plump and ready for picking. We welcome the bounty of summer and delight in serving our guests the best of what’s in season. As soon as Maine’s wild blueberries appear at the local fruit stands, we’ll be serving fresh blueberry pancakes, baked blueberry-stuffed French toast, homemade blueberry ice cream, and more. You'll even find wild blueberries at the edge of the lake on the Wolf Cove property. In late August, the orchards open and we’ll be picking apples for even more tasty treats. Come visit us in Maine’s “vacationland” and be sure to pack a cooler to bring home a pint or two of wild blueberries and other delights from our local farmers markets. Read on for tips on where to find our favorites.

Best Wishes,
Your Innkeeper, Sue

When the dog days of summer begin to wane and our thoughts turn to the crisp nights and cooler days of autumn, you can get your first taste of fall at the Ricker Hill Orchard tasting room. 8 different hard ciders are on tap for your pleasure, best accompanied by their yummy cider donuts. You can also grab some cider at their nearby country store and PYO apples in their orchard.

Although strawberry season is winding down for this season, like baseball, there’s always next year. Bookmark our blog post on “Berry Picking in Maine” and start dreaming about strawberry shortcake and AJ's homemade strawberry rhubarb jam.
