Ask A Ranger Podcast
Every year, North Carolina State Parks has celebrated an annual theme in all of our state parks. Programs, festivals and events throughout the state support the annual theme. This year's theme is Fire! Red-Cockaded Woodpeckers primarily build their nest cavities in Long Leaf Pine Trees. Long Leaf Pines depend on fire to keep from being outcompeted by other trees. Below is a fun Red-Cockaded Woodpecker coloring page.
