Hello Elysian Heights Community,

It is with joy and excitement that we welcome in Black History Month!  In a time when celebrating, recognizing and loving Black Lives is so needed, we are happy to use this opportunity to be intentional and active throughout the month.

As we met, the Equity Committee agreed that limiting our work to one month at a time per designated cultural/history month felt insincere to our mission.  This year, the Equity Committee is making a commitment to honor Black contributions, communities and histories year-round!  We are using Black History Month as our launch into an ongoing effort to highlight the many ways Black Americans have played an integral role in every American’s life throughout our country’s history (and more especially, throughout world history).

We will be providing resources, discussion topics, literature and opportunities to reflect on how we can support & honor the beauty as well as the pain of Black History in America throughout this month and the coming year.  As always, Black Lives Matter - Las Vidas Negras Se Importan.

We will continue sending out resources throughout the month, in the meantime please take the time to check out these resources to celebrate Black life, culture and contributions, which weave together the fabric of our experience.
