Did you know it is less than 7 months until The Event Of The Year? (also known as the West Coast Fiction Festival (WCFF) in case there was any doubt). We hope you're all as excited as we are!
We have some news for you. Lots of news and it is mostly great news.
Sad things first though.
We are sorry to let you know we have had a couple of authors who have told us they can no longer attend the WCFF, namely Lisa Swallow, Loretta Hill and Tea Cooper. An updated list of attending authors will be posted in the Readers' Group soon.
However we are thrilled to announce thatHelene Young will be joining us in November!
After 28 years as an airline captain in Australia, Helene Young has swapped the sky for the sea to go in search of adventure with her husband aboard their sailing catamaran. The rural and remote places she visits, along with the fascinating people she meets, provide boundless inspiration for her novels. Her strong interest in both social justice and the complexity of human nature shapes the themes she explores. Her six novels have won many awards including Romantic Book of the Year in Australia.
And guess what?
We have not one, not two ... but FOUR additional new signing authors to announce this week! Make sure you're in the Reader's Group on Facebook so you don't miss out on the announcement (Scroll down for the link).
In other exciting news, we have co-opted a new committee member, Catherine McKinnon Geurds. If you want to find out more about Cath you will need to go and check out the Readers' Group on Facebook or ask her random questions at the WCFF. She promises to come up with interesting answers.
Not a member of the Readers' Group yet? Click on the button below so you can stay up to date with the latest WCFF news as it happens, including:
Being the first to know which authors are attending the WCFF.
Updates on new releases by the WCFF attending authors.
Sneak peaks into what will be in the VIP goodie bags (and there are some totally amazing things in them).
Being the first to know what new merchandise is available.
That's right. We don't just have books at this event. We also have stuff!
Want to dress the part? There is a selection of official WCFF tops that you can wear before, during and after the event! Which one will you get? If you can't pick just one, it is perfectly acceptable to get multiple shirts.
If you are like us, you will also be wondering how you're going to store all the swag you're going to collect on the day.
This problem has now been solved. You can buy a gorgeous wooden box to keep mementos safe after the day and to collect author signatures on at the event. Winning!
Two final things.
First, a quick shout out to all our amazing sponsors. On behalf of the WCFF Committee we want to thank them for their help in bringing you this event and, even more importantly, in raising funds for Share the Dignity. If you get a chance to support our sponsors, please do.
Secondly, if your friends haven't had a chance to buy their tickets yet, let them know it's not too late. You'd be doing them a favour. It would not be nice to let them be jealous of the fantastic time you're going to have hanging out with authors and readers talking books all day (and all night). Click the 'Tickets on Sale' link below for tickets.
Until next time ....
Love from Tamara, Kathryn, Jennie, Anthea, Rachael, Sasha, Catherine and Tess - your West Coast Fiction Festival volunteer committee xx
