BFL 22nd Anniversary Banquet

It was an unforgettable moment at the Yaounde City Council Townhall (Hotel de Ville) on Sunday March 19 2017 as partners, friends, and well-wishers joined the Bread for Life family to commemorate 22 years of the ministry in Cameroon. This milestone event was marked by a keynote address from the pioneer Executive Director of BFL Cameroon, Rev. Dr. Daniel Shu and presentations on the various facets of BFL's work. A fundraising was conducted to support the work of BFL. Another major highlight was the cutting of the 22nd Anniversary cake by Rev.&Mrs Ernest Ehabe.

Good Samaritan Medical Outreach 2017

Our annual medical program dubbed "Good Samaritan Medical Outreach" took place in the locality of Dimako in the East Region of Cameroon from 13 - 16 March. It comprised a team from Jacksonville Florida led by Dr. Roxanne Cheek, another from MidAmerica Nazarene University, Missouri led by Dr. Acha Goris and a team of Surgeons from ASCOVIME (A Cameroonian NGO) led by Dr. George Bwelle. A total of 700 persons received free medical consultations; 119 surgeries (major and minor) and hundreds of free medications distributed per prescription to those consulted.

The medical outreach held simultaneously with a nightly evangelistic crusade dubbed "Peace Rally". The event was organized in collaboration with five indigenous churches (EEC, ACPR, CBC, Global Frontier and Glory City). Over 650 persons listened to the Gospel and more than a 170 made decisions to follow Christ.

Another major event that held at the sideline of the Good Samaritan Outreach was a Seminar on Counseling for Pastors and Church leaders. The seminar focused on 'Listening with empathy' and 'Handling Conflicts' and was facilitated by the team from MidAmerica Nazarene University Missouri led by Dr. Acha Goris.

Seminar on Counseling for Pastors and Leaders

One of the four pronged approaches of BFL is Leadership Development. Our approach to Leadership Development is Formal and Informal training, and facilitating relationships that build and provide for strategic impact in the communities we are called to serve. This aspect was not left out during our 22nd Anniversary Celebration in Cameroon. A seminar on counseling for Pastors and Leaders was organized at Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church (EBC) on March 17 and 18. The seminar comprised two modules: 'LISTENING FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE: Foundational, Relational and Helping Skills' and 'DEALING WITH GRIEF. It witnessed the participation of 22 leaders, amongst whom were: senior pastors, a team coach, nurses, teachers, psychology students and other leaders.

Outreach among the Baka Pygmies

BFL has also been actively involved in reaching out to the Baka Pygmy community in Lousou village (a locality adjacent our experimental farm in Dimako). True to our holistic approach to ministry, we have been providing both to their physical and spiritual needs. The Beulahland Experimental Farms have provided job opportunities for some Bakas who were recruited for land preparation. We are currently constructing a borehole to provide water for the farm and the community. The borehole will cost over 6 million CFA at completion. This will include the building of a water tower and solar power to operate it.

In the spiritual domain, Our Regional Coordinator for the East Region, Pas. Charles Goris has been carrying out evangelism and providing pastoral care and counseling for converts and Christians among the Bakas in Loussou village. Our efforts have resulted in a small congregation of about 40 and growing, but no place to meet. We will be doing our first baptism of 12 Baka believers early next month. To handle the crucial challenge of meeting space, we envision in the coming months to construct a church building and a personage which may cost us about 7.5 million CFA.

Outreach to Loussou & Dimako

Our next outreach will be from May 8 to 15 in the Baka Pygmy settlement village of Loussou near the Beulaland Farm. We will be doing multiple things:
1. Carry out daily witnessing in the village of Loussou.
2. Provide teaching on 'Discipleship' and on 'Assurance of Salvation'.
3. Work on building a small community church in Loussou (molding blocks, and minor construction work).
4. Some minor work on Beulahland farm.

We want to invite you to pray for these outreach and encourage you to consider joining us. Please call Ebenezer Ngala @ +237 67767-4342 if you will like to join the May Outreach to serve in Loussou village and in the farm too.

From May 15 through May 20, a friend and partner of BFL, Daneen Robbins (an occupational Therapist from Texas) will spend a week at our special needs and all inclusive school in Douala, working with autistic children and training our teachers on Occupational Therapy techniques. We want to encourage you to pray for her and all who will receive training.

Coming up in June ...

SLATE Team in Cameroon

SLATE Team will be in Cameroon for two weeks to provide training for our teachers and parents at our special needs school in Douala. SLATE is a team of Psychologist, Occupational therapists, speech therapists and ABA therapists that focuses on providing training to teachers on autism across the USA. We have been blessed by their partnership and willingness to come and provide training and much needed awareness on autism in Cameroon. They typically charge $25,000 for a week of training across the USA but have offered to come do this for free, on the condition that we pay for their tickets and in-country expenses. We now have enough to bring two members of the team. Please lift this up in your prayers and if you will like to help, simply go to our crowd funding campaign and donate there: https://www.youcaring.com/rayofhopeacademycameroon-692251
