Melissa said we've sent almost $10,000 to Liberia in the past year.
Not only is she my beautiful wife, she's also the one to compile the accounting for my little StubbySlide.com business. "Do you realize we've sent this much money to George in Liberia," she said to me last week.
I had no idea.
As many of you know, the support started with Wesseh, the blind oil can guitarist. We all got together and raised enough money to feed him and get him a home. Then he died in a tragic accident last February.
We had a fundraiser to give him a proper burial. About $2,000 of those funds that Melissa mentioned were raised for Wesseh's funeral.
I decided to keep sending a tenth of all gross profits* to Wesseh's church in Liberia and I'd send Western Union transfers to Pastor George from time to time. It was usually $150 here, $250 there. Nothing big. I didn't think about any grand totals. After accounting for Wesseh's funeral, we still raised an additional $8000 for Pastor George and the church.
So, these little guitar slides (and books, cigar box guitars, Smokey amps & shirts) are kinda doing big things.
I know that I can get pushy with these emails and my "SHOP STUBBY SLIDE DOT COM" ranting in my videos. Just know that there's some good stuff happening from all the hoopla.
I just wired the first donation for 2019 today. It was $150 sent straight to Pastor George. (BTW, there's no middleman between these donations and the Liberian Church. The only entity getting a cut of the money is Western Union's transfer fees.)
Stay primal... because it changes the world.
*gross profits are the total sale of your orders, before my wholesale costs of slides/books/shirts.
