Contact your Senators to ask them to include a 15% SNAP increase in the next stimulus bill

It is time for a big push in the Senate.
For the last few months, we have been advocating for stimulus bills that will help all of our neighbors in need during these unprecedented times. People are still experiencing the effects of the economic downturn, and benefits from the earlier stimulus packages are expiring in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, the pandemic and its economic impacts are not over, and our legislators need to continue to take action to help the millions of people still in need.

On May 15, another pandemic stimulus bill, the HEROES Act, passed in the House of Representatives. This bill included the Feeding America network's main asks, including increasing the SNAP maximum benefit by 15%, expanding pandemic EBT, and increasing funding for TEFAP and CFAP. This was a great step toward providing relief to individuals and organizations across the country, but we cannot stop there.

The next step is passing this bill through the Senate. With August Recess quickly approaching (and Senators leaving DC to return to their home districts), and other forms of assistance sun-setting soon, the passage of this bill is critically time-sensitive. Without another stimulus package, millions of individuals and organizations may be facing economic trouble, including an increased risk for hunger, until Congress reconvenes in September.

We know the Senate is currently negotiating what to include in their version of this stimulus bill. However, we do not know when they plan on taking up a vote on this legislation. Because of the urgency and importance of passing another stimulus package, we need you to contact your Senators and encourage them to vote on a comprehensive bill before August Recess.
Take Action!
Here's what you can do:
  • Copy this message and paste it into the message box on Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth's contact forms. Fill out the rest of the form with your name and contact information, and submit the message.
  • Call Senator Durbin at (202) 224-2152 and Senator Duckworth at (202) 224-2854 and follow this script.
Doing one (or both!) of these simple tasks will help emphasize the urgency of passing a stimulus bill that will keep our neighbors from going hungry during these uncertain times. What you do matters, and contacting your Senators is a quick and influential way to make your voice heard.
If you or someone you know finds themselves in need of a little extra assistance when current stimulus benefits decrease, we're here to help. Visit or call us at (844) 600-SNAP (7627) to learn how you can get groceries.
