In these challenging times, we are all navigating through uncertainty for ourselves, our loved ones and our community.  Yet in times of uncertainty, we see the best of our community emerge. We are grateful for all of those who have asked, “How can I help?” in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

The best way you can help the patients we serve is by making a financial donation now.

There it is.

Out in the open.

As I write this, I still can’t believe the situation we are in.  Every day, our leadership and staff are making tough decisions that affect kidney, dialysis and transplant patients throughout Louisiana.

As soon as the first COVID-19 case hit Louisiana, we saw a stark drop in donations.  We have postponed or cancelled events.  Our ability to raise funds has been crippled.

As an organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of others, we at the NKFL spend a great deal of our time thinking of others and doing good for others.  We are constantly striving to help just one more patient find a living donor, or get Medicare for their life-time supply of immunosuppressants, or help a care partner navigate the uncertainty of caring for someone with a life-threatening disease and chronic condition. Your contribution today will make an important difference in the lives of the most vulnerable that we serve.

I’ve been asked many questions that we just don’t have answers to yet.  When I have answers, let me assure you, so will you.  Our leadership and staff are constantly considering the right paths forward, every day.

I know that these are uncertain times, but I want to assure you that throughout the COVID-19 crisis, NKFL will be working around the clock to ensure that the best possible safeguards are in place to protect our kidney patients and all those who care for them. Moreover, we’re here to listen, learn, and support you during this time.  Please contact our toll-free patient information help line by calling (855) NKF-CARES, (1-855-653-2273) or by email:

Our website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram: @NKFLA) are continually being updated with specific information for clients, volunteers, events and more.

Thank you for being our partner in good times and these difficult times.
