Feelin' the love?

February is all about love. Love is all around us in the stores, on the Hallmark Channel, and on social media. Love is supposed to be in the air! Are you feelin' it?

Perhaps, though, you are in a moment, day, week, month, or season where love is hard. In worship we talk about loving God and loving neighbor, but what if God has disappointed you and your neighbor acts like a jerk? What if the relationship is too hard and you need to love from a distance? What does love mean then?

I wish I had perfect answers for you. Sometimes, loving God and loving neighbor is just hard. What I do know is this: God's unfailing love for us is perfect. Time and time again in my own life, I have experienced God's love in surprising, personal, and comforting ways. In the imperfect seasons, in the imperfect relationships, in the imperfect efforts to be faithful, God's love for God's people is ever present and waiting for us to hold onto it.

During February, I hope we will journey together as we learn to hold onto God's love. When love is hard, we need people around us to hold us up and point the way. That's what church family is for. It's not about perfection. It's not about measuring up to some standard. It's about being loved when we aren't feelin' it, by our God and by our neighbor.

Blessings,
Pastor Kris
