Summer travel is over. School is in session. While many have enjoyed lazy summer weekends near water or just lounging in the comfortable air of home, September is a great time to get back into the Sunday habit of gathering with a family of faith for worship.
I know the struggle of getting up and ready and getting kids out the door. I know the struggle of not feeling like it. I know the struggle of wondering if the effort will be worth it. I know the struggle of not wanting people to really know what's going on. Trust me. I know.
I also know that God meets me in the midst of all of that. What I have learned about gathering for worship is that every time I make the effort and ask God to give me a nugget of something to hold onto, God meets me where I am. When I gather with the Mount Tabor family, I see Jesus in the faces of the people around me. I hear some words of comfort - sometimes big and sometimes small - and I know that God has seen me.
This September, I encourage you to come back to church. Will you meet a challenge and attend at least 4 out of the 5 Sundays? Come and bring whatever you are dealing with. Bring your questions. Bring your worries. Bring your fears. Bring your joys and sorrows. Come. I can't wait to see you!
