Living in a community with a homeowner's association (HOA) can have a lot of advantages, especially since common areas often include landscaping, playgrounds, pools and community centers. There are pros and cons, of course, and some homeowners would rather opt out of paying the associated HOA fees. Maintaining a property involves time and energy for those involved, and deciding to live in a community with an HOA ultimately comes down to a matter of personal preference.
