HABA recognizes there are many issues currently affecting our community in Minnesota and other states.  HABA will continue to monitor and find ways to best assist the community and our partner community organizations.

President's Message

It is the beginning of March and it feels and looks like Spring!  The legal clinic was a terrific success.  Thank you to the volunteers and coordinators of that partnership event!  As we look forward, we have our first CLE on immigration this coming Sunday.  We hope to see you there!  Immediately following the CLE, we will also be having our first social hosted in part by our own members Anivuin Xiong and Mai Lee Yang.  We will have our first opportunity to meet and greet each other in 2017!  Our next CLE will be in April and it looks very exciting!

I'd like to take a moment to note that HABA recognizes there are many issues currently affecting our community in Minnesota and in other states.  HABA will continue to monitor these issues and find ways that HABA can best assist the community and our partner community organizations.  If you have an issue you think HABA should be aware of or can think of a way HABA can assist you in a current issue, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Legal Advice Day

HABA and MNAPABA, in partnership with Hmong American Partnership and Volunteer Lawyers Network hosted Legal Advice Day on February 22, 2017.  Over 29 clients were served at the Hmong American Partnership facility in St. Paul.  We also had 36 attorneys and law students volunteer their time throughout the day at 8 pods (legal issue stations).  A total of 8 clinic hours was achieved!

Thanks to all who supported this event!  We could not have done it without those who volunteered in person, those who publicized the event, or helped by other means.  We look forward to many more joint initiatives.
