Apart but not Alone ... Our parish takes inspiration from St. Elizabeth whose name we bear. In times of distress she did not panic. She took that time as an opportunity to serve! In this she imitated St. Francis of Assisi, and she imitated Jesus Christ who came not to be served, but to be the servant of all.

Telephone Calls  I hope that we will take time each day to call members of our congregation, perhaps even a person whom we do not know, but whose name we see in the parish directory. The conversation does not need to be longer than a minute. Ask how people are and take the time to say a prayer or the "Our Father" together. Why do I ask us to do this? Because we want to support each other spiritually, and we want to be church, a community together, even though out of love we do not gather together.

Please Try Online Community  I also ask you to watch the livestream of the services of the church. You can watch them on your computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone. I am also asking you to take the time to learn how to use ZOOM. So far this week the Liz's Place Parents, the Vestry, and the Episcopal Campus Ministry Members have all had wonderful Zoom meetings. The first time it will be awkward, but soon you will see faces of people you love and be able to enjoy some company. If after you try, it does not satisfy you, then no need to continue. I do ask you t at least try.  There is an article below.

The Grace of Communion is Received  The Book of Common Prayer has the following text on page 457: "If a person desires to receive the Sacrament, but, by reason of extreme sickness or physical disability, is unable to eat and drink the Bread and Wine, the Celebrant is to assure thet person that all the benefits of Communion are received, even though the Sacrament is not received with the mouth."  I feel totally safe in saying the same grace is available in this time of social distancing when church is unavailable.

Online Resources for Spiritual Growth  The bishop has sent out a list of resources for us to grow spiritually by making use of online resources. Please note when you visit the page the web-links are not highlighted, but you will be able to click on the texts to visit the sites indicated. Here is the link.

Zoom Meetings This Week

Pictured above is the College Group Zoom Meeting we had last night. It was great to catch up with one another. The vestry also met using Zoom as did the parents of Liz's Place. It is very easy to use. You can just call in and join the group. If you have a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone you can probably video call into the group. It is easy. On your device just follow the link to the meeting. The link can be found on the church calendar on the webpage. You will install some simple and safe software and then join the meeting.
