In case you missed it

Here's a link to a Safety Tour Around North Campus, published by Hallie Brodie in The Quad, and featuring EHS's Linda Hui and fire safety adviser Howard Pruden.

Do you supervise another person?

If you do, part of your job is to ensure they are working safely. It's the law.
Please note the course has been updated to reflect the changes to OHS legislation.

Take the new course today, or finish the original course by September 30, 2018.

Get a card that looks like this

Next week EHS begins handing out wallet-sized plastic cards across North Campus. You should get one. Put it in your wallet or purse or backpack or computer case. Stick it to your phone or on a mirror. Pin it to a bulletin board. Attach it to the fridge or a filing cabinet.
People often wonder why you need to call TWO numbers in an emergency. Here's the reason: when you call 911, the operator gets the emergency service rolling. Then, when the police, ambulance or fire service is on the way, the actual responding vehicle calls Protective Services so they can be prepared to guide them or assist in some other way. But sometimes they don't make contact. By calling UAPS yourself you ensure they can be where they are needed to help.
Note that at Augustana call 708-608-2905 after 911. For Enterprise Square, the number is 780-428-1541.

A workplace impairment policy is on its way

If you missed the original article, see THE QUAD for information about the new policy, which is now in development.

Learn about impairment in the workplace
Human Resource Services presents a second session on impairment in the workplace October 1. Dr. Rob Sealey will discuss the use of cannabis in a workplace setting from the perspective of a clinician and educator.

September is the month for fire drills

During a drill, you must evacuate the building. For more information about fire safety and for a directory of resources, visit the EHS webpage.
