Winter Closure

Before you leave for the holidays, be sure to secure and protect your work space to prevent property damage, reduce energy costs, and minimize impacts to the environment. Review these quick tips now so that you can enjoy the break!

Walk like a what??

Like a penguin (or like GUBA, in the photo above)! They don't slip often, and that's because they adopt a wide stance, walk flat footed, and take short steps. Learn more about navigating slippery surfaces.

Wondering about waivers?

Insurance & Risk Assessment is conducting an institutional review of waivers, which are legal documents that help the University of Alberta to manage risk. We have developed guidelines and updated templates and we need your help to make sure they are used consistently. Review the guidelinesrequest a waiver, or contact Amy Stafford at amy.stafford@ualberta.ca if you wish to be apprised of our progress as we move on to the next phase of the review.

One last thing...

If, despite your efforts, you experience property loss or damage during the holiday closure, you will need to report it to Protective Services, complete an incident form, and submit an insurance claim.
