Rejoicing in our light afflictions!

We are really starting to fit in down here!
March has been a good month!
Although it has had it's challenges, we got to get out and do some fun activities!
We all have gone through some kind of sickness or other this month.... I had an upper respiratory infection that is better, but still effecting me a little. The kids all had some kind of throat thing...and Imelda is still battling some kind of sinus infection. It seems as though we are often afflicted by sickness down here!
I think it is a tool used (often effectively) by the enemy to discourage and distract us from the work that we are meant to do for the Kingdom of God!

We bear in mind the words of the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:17 "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory!
Romans chapter 12 addresses this as well! I recommend that you read it often if you want to know how to behave like a Christian!

We went to the zoo!

A VERY friendly giraffe!
Friendly little fishies!
We went to the zoo in Guadalajara this month (about a 3 hour drive from Tepic), and had a great time as a family! The girls loved seeing all of the animals! They were especially impressed with the sharks and the penguins!
Ariana visiting the chickens at the Casa!
We are blessed to continue working with Fishin' Mission Adventures up at Lake Aguamilpa.
Last week we hosted a mens group from a local church for a day of fishing! I had the honor of driving one of the boats of fishermen and acting as kind of a guides assistant! It was a fun change of pace to help others catch fish, untangle reels, bait hooks, un-snag from rocks and sticks etc.
With the added bonus of being among fellow believers, our fellowship was sweet as well!
Waiting for the "Combi" taxi van to Aguamilpa.
I usually take the Combi as it costs about one third as much as it would in gas to drive! (Gas is over $4.00 per gallon here!)
Besides our regularly scheduled programming,  we also were able to attend the Nayarit State Fair which is held here in the Capitol Tepic.
We had planned to go with a missionary family that we are friends with,  but by the time we went, our group had grown to about 20 gringos! We had a blast walking around eating fair food, looking at exhibits, riding a few rides, and observing the people!

Due to an unfortunate accident, both of our turtles died. :(
 This is the funeral.
We are so thankful to God for having us here serving in whatever capacity He leads!
He meets all of our needs just when we need them!

Our vehicle maintenance fund (basically non-existent now) got stretched thin this month from having to visit the mechanic about 4 times for various problems. I was able to do some of the work myself, but I'm no mechanic! so we have to pay someone for all but the most basic problems....

Thank you for praying with us about our physical needs!!!
