Hi all,
It goes without saying that reliance on our own skills and resources and those of our local networks has never been so necessary. A global community of bakers and purveyors continues to work to provide those in need with daily sustenance, even as our conventional systems shut down in the face of an unknown future.
To assist in these efforts I'm compiling a list of bread and flour/grain sources. I'm highlighting bakeries and purveyors offering non-commodity grain that, aside from its myriad everyday benefits, may prove to be the more reliable source at the current moment. But any available options will be added as they come to light. I've just begun getting it in shape but the list so far can be found here and will continue to grow.
Are you baking/providing bread for sale or donation? Know of a business or individual who is? Fill out this form!

I will be mailing dried sourdough starter for free to those who are at home and would like to start baking their own bread, along with instructions for use. Please respond to this email with your name and address if you'd like to place an order.

I'll also be sharing baking recipes that maximize ingredients and nutritional value but require minimal baking expertise. They will live on the Bread on Earth site and on Instagram. Do you have specific items you'd like to learn how to make? Let me know.

Do you have a safe space for donations/pickups? Let me know about that too.

Any other comments, concerns, ideas? Please write! I will continue to pool and share resources and recipes over the next few days, weeks, or however long it takes.
If you're in the Hudson Valley: I will be near Hudson, NY for the indefinite future. If you are local and need something to eat or know someone who does, please get in touch directly. The Table At Woodstock provides daily meals for free and is also looking for donations of baked goods and breads (in addition to funds and grocery gift cards). A good place to start if you're in the area.
With love in bread,
Lexie
