Volunteer for American Red Cross Sound The Alarm

Every day, seven people die in home fires, most victims in homes that lack smoke alarms.  Sound the Alarm is a critical part of the campaign. In just six years, our home visits have accomplished so much, including the installation of more than 2 million smoke alarms and preparing more than 2 million people against home fires.

Join the American Red Cross at our Austin Sound the Alarm event in the Dove Springs neighborhood where we have a goal of installing 1,000 smoke alarms in one day. We are working with the Austin Fire Department and Dove Springs Proud, a local neighborhood organization, to advertise the event and we need volunteers to help carry out the goal. We provide volunteers with all training and supplies needed; smoke alarms are provided free of charge to residents. After your team finishes installing alarms, join us at the block party for music, games, and free food from Taco Cabana.

Share your voice during “Days of Action” this Spring

Last June, 17 Texas Representatives voted to defund the Peace Corps. These representatives are in Austin Districts: Roger Williams, Chip Roy, and Brian Flores. Bill Brock is looking to create a group of RPCVs to visit these Representatives in their district offices during NPCA’s Days of Action in March and April.

Please email Bill Brock at if you are interested in joining a team to visit one of these representatives.

Save the date for the Peace Corps Send-Off Party!

Support the Museum of the Peace Corps Experience

The Museum of Peace Corps Experience (MPCE) is a current and ongoing project on a national scale to provide an opportunity for RPCVs to share stories and artifacts from their service. HoTPCA will partner with the Museum to provide support through our newest Partnership Chair Board Member, Dr. Mark Standley, and to provide HoTPCA members a chance to contribute support, stories, and artifacts. We intend to make this partnership an active relationship in helping grow the Museum efforts for awareness, fundraising, and education as a whole with the nation about the Peace Corps goals and experiences through the eyes and artifacts of Volunteers.

Click here to find out more about the Museum and if you are interested in helping support the Museum-building efforts or contributing, please contact Mark.
