Texas RPCV groups partnered to host online screening 👏

In late June, Texas RPCV groups from Austin, DFW, Houston, and San Antonio hosted a virtual community screening of Texas RPCVs present A Towering Task. We had a fantastic response from our members and non-members alike and fundraised $1622.50 for racial justice organizations across Texas, including $422 for Austin Justice Coalition! You can watch the recording of the Q&A with the Director here, find more information about the documentary A Towering Task here, and about the Museum of the Peace Corps Experience here.
Special thank you to all who attended, ya'll are amazing!

HoTPCA community grant nominations due 8/16 💸
Grant Committee approves  $500 donation to Colin O'Brien - Bajkaj Village School Bathroom Project in Albania.

Due to the closure of Peace Corps sites, there are currently a limited number of Peace Corps projects abroad (https://www.peacecorpsconnect.org/campaigns). While we continue to monitor the statuses of projects abroad, we have also begun the initiative of seeking ideas for local community projects within the Central Texas region. Please fill out the survey to vote on the recipient of community grant funding.
You can find the survey here. Nominations are due 8/16/2020

How to actively contribute to funding HoTPCA grants ✅

Even with COVID, we are still activity identifying projects (local and international) that require funding. While our treasury has contributed over $1,500 dollars to various causes since March, we have not been able to collect the same amount from dues, donations, or Amazon Smile contributions. Please help us support those that need by :

  1. Confirm your AmazonSmile beneficiary, then save smile.amazon.com on your favorites bar to support HoTPCA whenever you order from Amazon!
  2. Pay your dues: $15 dollars a year goes a long way when our entire membership contributes!
  3. Send us a message if you want to give to a specific cause that we are supporting*(changes quarterly).

Leadership Program Opportunity 💼

U.S Global Leadership Coalition has created a leadership opportunity called Next Gen Global Leaders Network  It is a year long training, cultivation and engagement program for diverse and exceptional young professionals (25-35)  from across the country.

Next Gen Global Leaders Network is an effort to invest in a powerful network of next generation leaders who can inspire their communities and their peers on the importance of America’s global leadership and advance our shared belief in building a better, safer world. Participants will learn from foreign policy experts in a virtual training program, take on leadership skills needed to make real change into the future. Next Gen Leaders will attend next summer’s USGLC’s Annual State Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. a great opportunity to network with other young professionals from across the country, join advocacy meetings with their Senators and Representatives, and engage in why America’s role in the world matters. The USGLC will provide media training – both traditional and social media learning how to  leverage their networks and their voices to reach a new, younger audience. Upon completion of the program, participants will join their local State Advisory Committee, deepening the bench of next generation voices who support strategic investments in America’s development and diplomacy programs.
