Thank you for your support...

Hi <<First Name>>

For most of my art sales, I make a personal donation of 10% on your behalf to a wildlife organization (after commissions and GST, but before costs). I do this once a year after doing my taxes - it's my reward for getting them done because only then do I find out which bird raised the most for conservation! And for FY 2020 its (insert drum roll and fanfare) "Portrait of a tūī", closely followed by "I shall ride every storm".

The tūī really is NZ's most beloved bird!

Both these pieces raised money for Zealandia EcoSanctuary's wetlands restoration project. Because most of my artworks are based on photos taken at Zealandia, they're by far the largest recipient, but I've also been able to make smaller donations to

I am immensely grateful for the support you show our wildlife through your art purchases and also through your support on social media. Each like and comment helps spread the word about our beautiful birds. You can find out which organization is supported by each piece by looking up the print on my web site.

Two pīwakawaka on a branch sharing a secret

Last year I asked which bird you'd like to see featured in an upcoming piece and the overwhelming reaction was pīwakawaka. This new piece, "The Secret,"  features a parent and baby pīwakawaka on a lichened branch - I'd love to know what the secret is but they're keeping tight-beaked about it. 10% of my proceeds are going to Zealandia.

Seagull examing plastic litter

We're over halfway through the Art of Birding Wildlife & Nature challenge - this coming week it's all about the Plastic Free July campaign. And take a look at our favourite photography for May in Excio's latest blog - especially if you love baby owls!

Two paintings featuring birds

If you're local to Wellington or visiting over the school holidays, do check out our group exhibition at Zealandia. Ten artists and photographers with a huge range of styles and media, all featuring our native flora and fauna. The exhibition has been extended through July. It's a great chance to support Zealandia and your local artists. I just adore these paintings by Ashley McDonald!

It's been wonderful to be able to get out and about and walk in the bush again the past few weeks. I do hope you've been able to do the same.

Take care, kia kaha
