Hi <<First Name>>
I was going to be writing to you in late March to let you know about a wonderful new exhibition of bird art that was opening in the Akaroa Art Gallery. The art was all delivered, the travel plans for opening night all in place, the champagne ordered, but then the day before the art was to be hung the world turned on its head - and - you know the rest!
But instead of admitting defeat, the resourceful and talented gallery team, lead by gallery president Bryan Tichborne, formulated plans for a virtual exhibition instead. We all know it's not quite the same as seeing the real thing, but please do come and take a look... perhaps make a virtual date night and pour yourself and your bubble-mates something convivial, grab a tasty snack, and have fun critiquing our work without risk of us overhearing you 😂🥂
In the exhibition you'll find a range of photo art and mixed-media encaustic pieces by myself, gorgeous drippy watercolour and ink pieces by Rachel Walker, ethereal oils by Carol Theologo, and sumptuous pastels and scratchboards by Karen Rankin Neal. It's been so wonderful getting to know these talented artists and it always amazes me how differently we see our birdy subjects.
...and if anything tickles your fancy or you'd just like to comment on the exhibition, please get in touch either through the form on the website or you can email me directly. We'll be able to give you lots more information about the pieces, along with additional photos in many cases. And after the Level 4 lockdown ends, any purchased pieces can be collected or couriered free of charge anywhere in NZ. The exhibition is on from now through to 1 May.
I do hope this email finds you safe and well and that our art is a joyous distraction,
