Please do keep spreading the word and encourage your friends to support the book.
As promised in our previous update, this update will feature a character overview. One of the most exciting and challenging parts of making this book is to choose which women we can include. We have only 26 letters (well 25, since we are unable to find any names with X), and there are hundreds of inspirational Indian women whose stories we really wanted to share. We can’t fit all of them in this book however, but we have tried our level best to represent women from diverse backgrounds. Here are some of them:
A is for Arundhati Roy, Author
D is for Durga Nagpal, Civil Servant and IAS Officer
M is for Mallika Dutt, Human Rights Activist
T is for Tessy Thomas, Scientist
Q is for Queenie H.C. Captain, Social Activist
U is for Uma Devi Khatri, Comedian/Actress
All these women hail from different parts of India. They represent different races, ethnicities and experiences. Some are no longer with us and some continue to add to their legacy. Though this is not a complete list, We hope this sparks your curiosity.
Some of you have personally reached out and have been really intrigued by the idea of putting together a book like this. So, if you are interested in learning more about what happens behind the scenes when writing a book as a first-hand narrative, please write back to us. If we get enough of a response, we will create a separate email list and share our first-hand experiences with you.
Also, coming up in our next update, we'll be talking about aspects of the book like size, pages, illustrations etc. We are close to locking in on those and we are excited to share our progress with you!
