Season's Greeting!

InK2 2nd Newsletter

The "Implementing the new Kelvin 2 (Ink2)" project answers the call of the International Commitee for Weights and Measures for redefining the units of the International System, which will be based on defined values of the fundamental constants. The Ink2 project leads the thermometry community, that includes the most important institutions working in the field worldwide, in this endevour. You may stay up to date on the progress and developments of the project by reading the latest Newsletter. The next Ink2 meeting will take place in September this year in Belfast. Please check the Ink2 website for more details.

The first Big Science Business Forum 2018 gathered for the first time representatives from some of the largest European research organisations (among them CERN and ESS) and from about 500 companies. Here you may find a detailed evaluation report of the meeting, which provides interesting statistics and facts. The BSBF allowed industries to gain insights into the future procurement opportunities in just one location and within a few days. For those who could not attend it, the BSBF's website offers interesting material for download. You may want to give a look at the slides of the presentations given in the session dedicated to cryogenics technology, which can be found here. Or learn about procurement procedure for the research facilities in the Procurement Handbook.

Starting at the end of January the Cryogenics Society of America presented a series of five free webinars dedicated to cryogenics safety. Each session focused on a real accident and discussed the topics associated with it, thus providing the audience practical rules and procedures to prevent it. Those who missed them can still see the webinars on the CSA video archive or download their slides (both of which you can find here).

The 27th International Cryogenics Engineering Conference -International Cryogenic Materails Conference 2018 is organized by the British Cryogenics Council in partnership with the Science and Technology Facilities Coucil and will take place in Oxford from the 3rd to the 7rh of September. Taking into consideration the Easter bank holiday the deadline for abstracts submission has been extended to April the 10th. Papers can be submitted until September the 7th. Detailed informations and guidelines for preparation of both abstracts and papers may be found here. The sponsorship pack is now available here (the booking form is on page 7). Please note that sponsorship packages are available on a first come first served basis.
