OPEN MIC: WATCH AND SUPPORT
At MJBW, we are proud of the many international and Australian writers we have brought to your notice. Not just over the past year, online, but at the various festivals we have held.
On Tuesday 20th April at 8 pm (AEDT), we are doing something a bit different. We are providing members of our community an opportunity to read out their work. That’s people just like you – it may even be you.
For many, this will be the first time they have read their own writing to an audience. Register now to hear their work — but perhaps more importantly, to offer support and encouragement. There is great variety in the submissions that have come in so far, so it promises to be a fun evening.
And there is still time to submit a piece. Submissions close on Tuesday 6 April, so use our submission form on the MJBW website to send your work through. Participants will also have the opportunity to be published on the JWOW website.

SOME EXCITING NEWS FROM MJBW

|
The Jewish Quarterly is a literary journal that gathers the world’s best minds, spanning religions, cultures and continents as it digs deep into topics thematically relevant to Jewish culture. Now owned by Publisher Morry Schwartz, The Jewish Quarterly will operate out of Australia and distributed worldwide.
The MJBW community will have access to special offers which will be communicated in the MJBW enews in the coming weeks, so please look out for that — especially as gift ideas in the lead up to Pesach.

Melbourne Jewish Book Week joins the celebration of MIRKA, which is now showing at the Jewish Museum of Australia (14th Feb — 19th Dec.)
Hosted by the MPAVILION as part of its MTalk series, don’t miss this fascinating and FREE panel discussion MIRKA & FRIENDS, a special collaboration between MJBW and JMA.
Sabine Cotté and Kendra Morgan were lucky enough to have known one of our favourite artists intimately and with great affection. Mirka Mora’s charm, effervescence and style are revered in their books. This event is a tribute to a beloved, bright-eyed and deeply missed Melbournian. To be moderated by Jessica Bram, Director and CEO of the Jewish Museum of Australia.

Hummus has no borders!
To continue our theme of stories associated with food, MJBW is thrilled to recommend a film from the wonderful program offered this year by the Jewish International Film Festival (17th Feb to 24th March).

Breaking Bread is a delicious documentary which follows a group of Jewish and Palestinian chefs who take part in a unique food festival in the Israeli city of Haifa. Breaking Bread is a mouth-watering film about hope, collaboration and exotic fare.
