Advent at Christ Church
This is a special message. Please keep in mind that the situation surrounding COVID-19 is ever-changing; Christ Episcopal Church will keep you updated on our practices and procedures according to parish and diocesan guidelines.
(aka Lockdown with God)

We have been through an extraordinary year.  We are about to be in a time of home, rain, and intensive lockdown as a form of love for neighbors and ourselves.

At Christ Church, we think this is an excellent time to pray.  We have been given the opportunity to cosy up to God, to talk with God, to be with each other virtually and in the spiritual world while we long for touch, meals, and laughter in the physical one.

We are going to pray our way through Advent, with each other.

Every weekday of Advent, we will be offering short devotionals (10-15 minutes) on Facebook Live at 9am and 6pm.

The morning devotions will be taken from Luke Powery's Rise Up, Shepherd!: Advent Reflections on the Spirituals.

The evening devotions will be a modified Evening Prayer for use when lighting your Advent wreaths each night. [If you need supplies for an Advent wreath, please contact Rev. Chris or Rev. Shelly.]

Please join us from your desks, your living rooms, your cars, your sofas, anywhere, in jammies, in suits, in sweats.

And please join in leading!  We will provide you with the book of reflections and the devotional format and texts for the slot you sign up for.  You don't have to generate any content or reflection on your own.  You just have to be willing to read and lead for about fifteen minutes at the assigned times.  If you would like to do this, please sign up on the online signup form here.

Please note the Christ Church staff is taking a much needed breather from November 22-November 28 - if you send this request during those days, it will not receive a response until November 29.

Let's hang out with each other and God.  We need both, right now, more than ever.

Sundays in Advent
In Advent, Sunday worship will remain the 10am livestream.
On November 29, Advent 1, we will have a traditional quiet service with preaching.

On December 6, we will have stories of St. Nicholas from our youngest members and a Word from our bishop.

On December 13, Advent 3, we will have a traditional quiet Advent service with preaching.

On December 20, we will celebrate with Lessons and Carols!  Henry is readying some lovely pieces.

We are hopeful for an outdoor evening service on Christmas Eve, with candles and singing Silent Night, and short readings.  Christmas Day will be a fun, casual pajamas service led from home, with preaching and lessons.  No guarantees on either of these yet, but these are the hopes.  We live in hope, always.

With love,
