Hello, all parishioners and everyone looking to do in-person worship.
We have been busy and our COVID-19 plan has been submitted to the Bishop’s office for review and approval. We will then wait until the COVID-19 surge settles before considering indoor in-person worship.
The re-opening team is working on protocols and safe measures to have in person worship. We have at our fingertips guidance and outlines about how to do this, but in order to make it happen, we need people to volunteer to work with us in order to re-open. These volunteers will function as ushers/greeters as people enter and also clean-up crew after people leave. We need volunteers to learn the ropes on sanitizing surfaces, how to keep everyone safe through monitoring people who enter the Sanctuary, and setting up for Sunday Worship. Volunteers first will have a conversation one to one on the phone on what the work is, then they will meet on a Zoom meeting to hear the whole work for greeting and screening people and have all questions asked and answered. If at any point the work seems too much or too risky, a volunteer can opt out.
The next step is already in process and that is to repair and upgrade our air system in order to improve air safety in the building from the COVID-19 or any virus.
Scheduling to attend services in the Sanctuary will be through online signups, like we did with the backyard services this summer. Information about this will be available when we are closer to opening the building to the public.
We are excited to have this work almost done. We look forward to seeing your face. We need you for many reasons, but at this time your help to make in-person worship safe for everyone is important. Please email or write back to Cara at the office if you wish to volunteer: contact Mary Lou Hatcher firstname.lastname@example.org or c/o Christ Church Seattle, 4548 Brooklyn Avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98105. If you are in a high risk group or any other reason are at home, virtual worship will still be offered.
For the pleasure of the parishioners,
Wes Ono, Mary Lou Hatcher, Joslin Harris-Gane and Mary Herdell
